Default Who are you in real life? (Your Alter Ego)

we all know that who we are online is very diffrent from who we are in real life(we say things online that you would never say in real life)..............so just what are you like in real life, what is your occupation, what do you do for fun, what do you drive, etc............(this is also another opportunity for us to poke fun at each other)

here is mine,

my personality:
i am one the most easy going people you will ever meet, i also like to keep an open mind when it comes to people (so i am also very forgiving) ...........but do not think that means that you can take advantage of me (i can see through a lie from a mile away) and although i am hard to piss off, you do want me to be your enemy,
i am also an extreme pratical joker.............(think viva la bam emberassing pratcial jokes), i also love to have partys at my house (my house is always a mess on monday mornings)

definition of my online name:
my real name is david, although many call me either DJ or DZ (pronounced dee-zee) which is short for Dangerzone because of a stupid thing i did when i was younger

my occupation:
i currently work for my county crime lab as a criminalist, AKA a CSI .............but i actually went to college to be a car customizer

what i do in my free time:
because i am at home on call a lot, i pass the time by chatting online, watching tv shows i recorded on my computer, listening to music, and of couse playing games................i also fix up cars in my free time (i usually do at least one car a year) although sometimes i fix up cars for my friends (at least i get some use out of those 2 years of college)..............oh, and i write a lot

intresting facts about myself:
i can actually drive without impairment when i am over the legal blood alcohol limit.............(i will actually pass out before i show any symptoms of being drunk)
i also have an IQ of 157 (when i am awake).............(so drinking does not cost you brain cells)
but, when i am tired my IQ goes down to about 50

Favorite types of game:
i will play any type of game, but personally i prefer puzzle and mystery games (such as csi of course)

what i drive:
my primary car is a customised 2006 eclipse spyder (it has a new stereo, bodykit, rims, and a custom graphic paint job) all done by myself

i also have a 1977 oldsmobile cutlass supreme (the car i learned to drive in) which i have restored to original condition

currently, i am working on turning a 1991 chevy s10 into a hot rod

Actually, I'm really not all that different in real life.

I'm a graphic artist who writes fiction and music and dreams of a day when he can develop a handful of interactive adventures like the one I've been babbling about for months.

I've been married for a little under a year, my apartment is stuffed to the rafters with the accumulated possessions of my wife and I, and she would like to have children soon, but I'm holding off for a bit more job security and a more spacious place to live, in that order.

Personality-wise, I'm relatively passive unless I'm trying to do something I'm passionate about, in which case I can be very bullish.

I'm a notorious flirt, a charming raconteur, and an infamous polemicist. That said, believe it or not, I'm generally very shy around people I don't know... until you get me on a topic I'm very intense about. Then you can't shut me up.

Future plans include giving my wife that family I promised her, acquiring the recording equipment needed to record the music I'm writing, and to eventually start an in-house publishing concern for the various works of certain of my friends and I, hopefully without becoming a sad little vanity press. LinkMedia Games are commencing a new RPG tabletop book, and we'll be working on that pretty steadily for the next year or two, I would imagine. And I plan on having a couple of pieces of shortish fiction I've slowed down on finished and sent out for the next round of rejection slips.

>>Edit To Add: And on the topic of cars, I don't drive. Yes, I'm one of those people. I've often dreamed of owning a very classy vehicle like an Aston Martin, but in truth, I'm not interested in driving any form of fossil burner. I AM however very interested in the Tesla.

Hmm. Looks like this could potentially be fun and interesting.

My personality: When I take personality tests, I consistently score as INTJ. In a nutshell, this means I'm a perfectionist, I love coming up with great (or not-so-great) ideas and following through with them, I like being alone more than most people do, and I'm naturally not that great with interpersonal relationships. I'm generally quiet around strangers and loud around people I'm comfortable with. I'm also a lot more articulate via text than I am in real life.

My occupation: I'm a programming intern at Telltale games, though they also let me help out with design tasks and write in their blog. This is the best job I've ever had so far. Once I finish this particular internship, however, I'll be back at university getting my computer science degree. When I'm done with that, I want to be a professional game designer. My specific interests lie in interactive storytelling; also, I think I'd quite enjoy writing games for kids someday. That'd be cool.

What I do in my free time: I write for AG and my own website, work on underground adventure games, play a few musical instruments (though not all that well, because I don't have time or am too lazy to practice), and read books. If I have friends at the moment, I enjoy sitting around and having fascinating discussions with them. Generally, I'm allergic to parties and anything else that involves people being loud, obnoxious, and stupid... though if I can find someone to go off to a quiet place and have a fascinating discussion with, I'll survive.

Interesting facts about myself: I'm a member of the Baha'i Faith, a religion that works to promote such ideals as the unity of mankind and that all the world's major religions come from the same source. Despite being generally cynical about most things, deep down inside, I do believe that the world can be a better place if we work hard enough to make it so. I don't drink alcohol, even though I'm over the legal drinking age practically everywhere except for the United States. I have a phobia of telephones and answering machines that I'm slowly starting to overcome. My IQ is greater than 115 and less than 135, meaning I'm not all that smart compared to geniuses. I'm a total grammar nazi. I used to know five hundred decimal places of pi from memory. I also have a strange interest in filling out memes that reveal a person's personality, and reading the ones that other people fill out.

Favorite types of game: The ones that tell great stories and stuff and that aren't terribly difficult, because despite wanting to be a game designer when I grow up, I suck at most games. I enjoy most of my favourite games (Grim Fandango, The Neverhood, Phoenix Wright, etc.) in much of the same manner as I enjoy a good book - they're works of art that suck me into their world and characters. However, I do also derive enjoyment from cute platformers, kart-racing games, and puzzley casual games. I used to be pretty good at Dance Dance Revolution circa 2001, too.

What I drive: I used to drive a Toyota Echo until my younger brother totaled it. Now, I'm a pedestrian who relies on exercise, public transportation, and rides from other people to get places. Oh well, I'm not that into cars, anyway. (Though someday, I'd love a Volkswagen Beetle or a Smart Car. Or anything else that's cute, small, and easy to park.)

Well, there you have it. Now I've given you an excuse to learn more about me. Isn't that wonderful? I thought so.

Well, I score as INFP on the MBTI, but all that really says is, I'm the quiet, thoughtful one who needs to believe in what he's doing or he's useless. Not so much a crusader as an intensely focussed believer in personal causes. Hmmn. Actually, it said plenty more, but even I'm sick of my long monologues. So yeah, questing dreamer type, and a bit anal about getting things just the way I want them. *nods*

PS: After reading your first response more carefully (I confess, I browsed the first time through), I have officially decided that you're neat. *nods firmly* And I look forward to seeing any game you would develop in the future.

Well, I'm pretty much the same in real life as I am here. I'm pretty open in general and just like to have a good time.

Definition of my online name:
It's just a short version of my name with UK chucked on the end (cos that's where I live).

My occupation:
I do support stuff for a retail company, not the most amazing job but the people are great and there's lots of socialising and dossing.

What I do in my free time:
During the week I'm usually out and about with mates, in pubs and bars or playing pool. I also try and catch up with writing when I get a chance. Our curry nights in Brick Lane seem to be growing in popularity too.
At the weekend I'm either in Norwich visiting my gf or she comes to London.

Intresting facts about myself:
I was born in Canada, lived in California for a while and I'm now in London. I recently toured round Asia where I was chased by a ladyboy on a motorbike, sang karaoke with prostitutes (twice), developed a deep hatred and fear of peacocks, and tried to forget all the above and lots more by killing my brain with cheapy beer.

Favorite types of game:
Violent ones where you can kill your friends (Mortal Kombat is the current favourite).

What I drive:
I have a little Corsa back up North, but it would cost too much and be too much hassle down in London so it's sitting unused on my drive

I'm not really much different here than anywhere else. If you saw me offline, you'd probably say I was more quiet and introverted, but that's just because I so rarely get a chance to talk about video games offline. (My family doesn't play any games, and I have to practically force my "semi-friends" to play.) If you get me started on videogames, much like Lee or Squinky I just won't shut up. Ever. You might try to change the topic, but I won't notice because I'll be having so much fun analyzing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

People call me Mory, which is short for Mordechai. When I was really young it was spelled Morry, but I decided one day (I think I was around three or four.) that if it had two "R"s then it would have to rhyme with "sorry". For some reason alphabets just interest me- I learned the Russian alphabet by glancing at a newspaper a Russian guy was reading as he sat next to me on a bus one day. I don't speak Russian, so it's sort of useless, but I learned it anyway. When I was in sixth grade I invented my own alphabet, which is by far superior to any alphabet in use- you can tell how each letter relates to all others just by looking at it. I meant to create a language that would use it, but I never got around to it. And I've been in Israel for ten years without ever getting comfortable with Hebrew. I'm just better with letters than I am with words. I was always great at Hebrew grammar, but I couldn't actually write anything in Hebrew. But that's no different than I am here- you can see this same obsession with structures in the way I deal with game classification, with which I went so far as to invent my own terminology and system for analyzing games. It's just what I do. I love playing games, like Rayman 2, which stretch boundaries and are fun to analyze.

I love, above all else, to explore. My favorite games are the ones which allow me to wander around and internalize the world design, maybe finding shortcuts or hidden passageways along the way: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Myst IV: Revelation. Once I was in Eilat (on the south side of Israel) on a class field trip, and for an evening I was allowed to wander around free, so I separated from the group and started walking (without a map) to find a pizza place I knew of and to get a feel for the area. I called that a "Metroid moment". I like less literal types of exploration, too, like playing with a musical theme to find all the possibilities. I've got a piece I play on the piano I call an "Improvised Sonata", which has certain points I have to reach, but otherwise lets me wander around and find cool variations and shortcuts.

Oh, that reminds me- I do like to play piano a lot. I like games like that which are really deep and require mastery of the controls. I love F-Zero GX, which I've played for hundreds of hours but still feel I've barely scratched the surface of. I like platformers partly because I wish they'd get around to sticking in deeper controls- it's sort of like how I play adventures for the potential of a good story, rather than actually getting a good story. (3D platformers often have an emphasis on exploration, so there's that too.) Though, come to think of it, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat does have deep controls- I love that game, and can't wait for that team's upcoming Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm not capable of noticing details, so I don't read books. To explain: Whenever I come across a descriptive paragraph or sentence, my eyes pass over it without catching anything it said. It's sort of like my brain is stuck on the very first detail, trying to make sense of it, while my eyes keep moving. I often have to reread pages many times to get any information out of it at all. Or I might not notice that I've missed anything and find myself completely confused later on when the details become more important. So while I was actually reading very early in life (around three, I'm told), I barely ever read plain text anymore. This same problem is the cause of my hatred of inventory puzzles. I actually did enjoy The West Wing, but that's only because I watched it all on DVD and was able to rewatch each scene five times, with subtitles, so that I could get a vague idea of what was going on. This is a real problem in verbal conversations: Often I will fail to hear what someone is saying until they repeat it twice. It drives me crazy that my "semi-friends" are often unwilling to repeat what they say. I prefer talking on forums.

(I'm not sure whether it's part of that same problem, but I can't stand crowds. When I hear people talking from a lot of different directions, instead of being able to focus on a particular person and have a conversation, I notice certain words from all over the place and can't make sense out of any of it. So I've never liked big social events- in them I find myself a little corner, sit down, and play on my Game Boy.)

I like good stories, good drama. So I read superhero comics. That and science-fiction TV: We've got a wall by the TV covered in VHS tapes of Star Trek which my father taped off TV, and I've watched all of it several times. We have just about every episode of Star Trek: Voyager. And I won't ever shut up about the greatness of Babylon 5. I watch all the new BSG episodes, and read a lot of new comics. (Especially Marvel, and especially anything written by J. Michael Straczynski.) I play RPGs occasionally in the hope that someday someone will channel it into a better story with more dramatic battles, and I play adventures occasionally in the hope that someone will stop blocking my path with inventory puzzles and let me enjoy a story.

Somewhat related to the earlier comment about depth, I love creating stuff. I'm very proud of my blog, for instance. I liked The Sims (and I like The Sims 2 even more), even though I don't particularly like simulations, because I like to create families and stories around them. Spore looks like I'll need to be pried away from it, for much the same reason. For over a year I haven't played anything on the piano which I didn't compose myself, because it's just more fun that way. I love Final Fantasy Tactics Advance because it lets me create my own fighting team, and I wish there were a sequel with less emphasis on story and ten times more jobs. (I didn't like its PS1 predecessor at all, because the story and the difficulty level got in the way of the customization.)

I don't have a job, don't have a car, don't have money, and don't much want any of them. I will happily admit that I'm not concerned about the future because I'm having so much fun in the present. (I don't think my family likes me much.)

..And that's me.

my personality:

The way I am online is pretty much me. I am laid back 99% of the time. The other 1 % my husband has pissed me off about something, but for the most part he’s ok. I try and not let a lot of things get under my skin; like I said (I try).

my occupation:
Stay at home mom. My daughter is 3 and I keep my nephew during the day as well. I have been a stay at home mom for about 2 years. Before I left my job I was an assistant director of a child care center. Before that I was a parole officer, and to cut my teeth I was a probation officer for misdemeanors crimes. My education is an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and an associate’s degree in Early Childhood education.

interesting facts about myself:

I am 5’1 and I don’t shit off anyone. I have a brown belt in karate and I am going to take my black belt test in November. I got my nickname “bulldog” from a fight that I was in during karate. I was sparing a fellow classmate he hit me in the face (which is illegal in our style of martial arts) so I got pisses off and punched him in the chest and he flew backwards about 3 feet. So the nickname stuck from then on out.

I think that my eyes are the only other thing that is different about me. One of my eyes is blue the other is ½ brown and ½ green. So for those of you that are following along that only mean that I am only ½ full of shit (just joking).

Favorite types of game:

Who done it type…. like
CSI
Law and Order
Puzzle type (safecracker)
Adventure games

what I drive:

VW jetta…… love it.

This is an interesting thread. It's nice to find out more about some of the newer members and find out new things about the regulars .

My personality - definitely an introvet. I like my privacy, I have a few friends but would rather be on my own than be in a group. I prefer cats to dogs, but that's only because dogs are more work .
My occupation - I own a pets only clinic in a small town. I love the freedom of being my own boss and practising medicine the way I like to, focusing mostly on preventative care.
My hobbies - gardening during our relatively short season, reading fantasy, playing adventure games, and dance (right now I'm doing Hip-Hop and Belly). I also love going to the movies, and will head out by myself if no one else wants to go.
Interesting facts - my beverage of the moment is a Starbucks decaf almond latte. My garden won an award for best fragrence/butterfly garden. I make an acclaimed venison curry (grind my own spice mix).
Favorite game - 1st person PC adventures with lots of puzzles and little charater interaction. Riven is the epitomy of the gaming experience for me.
My car - a 2005 Honda Element with 4wheel drive and manual transmission. It's the latest in a string of Hondas that started with my first '82 Accord hatchback.

I'm no different online than I am in real life. I am an awful liar, so I don't even try it. I am just as loony (if not even more) in real life, and everyone who knows me will confirm that.

I love it! Our instructor is very technical, so it is a hard work out. It is very good for core strengthening. The best part is putting the moves together in a choreography. A lot of the movement is very different from traditional dance ( jazz, ballet, etc ), but it is definitely designed for womens bodies and starts to feel more natural with a little practice. It is also suitable for any age; our class has a range from teenagers to grandmas. I find that at first I was shy, but soon you realize that the wiggles and jiggles are all part of it and and it easy to relax and enjoy the beat.

BTW, I used to take Karate (Shorin-ryu) and got to the green belt level. I loved the katas, but hated the fighting, which is why I never persued it further.

That's cool.... I take Tae Kwon Do; I have been with this teacher since I started. I started about 5 years ago. I love the fighting it helps me with aggression (bills, car note, screaming kids.....and so). I think that once I get my black belt I might take the belly classes. Thanks so much for the info.

What am I like in real life?

Pretty much like I am here, and it surprises me that people would particularly assume otherwise.

Okay, here goes...

My Personality
Hmm... I tend to spend much of my time being cynical and vaguely depressed. Unless I'm discussing video games, historical periods that I actually know something about or choral music.

I'm the kind of person that likes to do well, which manifests itself in me never, ever, ever being happy with what I've done. I'm also someone that has to get to know people in real life before I can actually talk to them easily. That and I have the habit of poking fun at everyone I talk to in real life. Which is a really bad habit when talking to people that I barely know.

Needless to say, I'm not a particularly popular person. I tend to have a small group of close friends and remain something of a stranger to almost everyone else.

Definition of my Online Name
I'm not even going to bother answering that.

My Occupation
I'm a student. I'm about to enter the second year of my Modern History degree at Oxford (the "Modern" bit is something of a misnomer, though, since this covers any history that isn't ancient).

I have no job. That makes me feel incredibly lazy.

What I do in my Free Time
Um... well... I play video games, get involved with as much music as I can (preferably choral) and twiddle my thumbs a lot. I also play badminton, though not to a particularly notable level.

Interesting Facts About Myself
Precisely nothing that I can think of. I used to be one of the Head Choristers in Portsmouth Cathedral Choir. I'm technically a published poet, but it was something that I wrote for a random anthology when I was about seven, and I've never even seen a copy of the book since. Other than that I can't think of anything even remotely interesting about my life, though that may just be because I can't tell what other people will find interesting.

Favourite Types of Game
If it's not driving or sports then I probably play it to a greater or lesser extent, though I tend to focus on adventures, platform games and shooters (sorry!).

What I Drive
I borrow my father's car. It's a Corsa. Yes, I know that they're small and cheap, but they also go from A to B, and that's all I care about in a car.
