I got a Garfield cookbook for Xmas, and this reminded me that I have other geeky cookbooks...

The Garfield one is good, thanks to this book I learned what a smoothie is, but I can't imagine Garfiled drinking one...

I have TWO Asterix cookbooks, one is only about sandwiches and the other is a normal one with simple recipes...

And then I have the ULTIMATE cook-book!
Nanny Ogg's Cookbook!

It has every recipe ever mentioned in the Discworld novels!
Wow-wow Sauce, Carrot and Oyster Soup...

I also have "The Bachelor Home Companion: A Practical Guide to Keeping House Like a Pig", but its not really a cook book...

This got me wondering is there are more geeky cookbooks out there?

Maybe chinese cuisine with Jackie Chan? Or an Evil Bread book from Bruce Campbell?
Pey'j Baking Bacon recipes? (Ok, ok, I'll stop now...)

Also, Tanu, I can't believe you didn't know what smoothies are! How have you managed to eke an existence without them for so long? I demand that you try out this recipe for one:

Mash 1 banana and 6-10 strawberries (depending on size and ripeness), add 1 small cup yoghurt and a splash of milk, mix. Add sugar to taste, generally only if strawberries aren't that ripe.

Make sure you MASH the fruit, with a fork, though. Don't just chuck everything in the blender - the result won't be nearly as good.

Nanny Oggs Cookbook! Hehe Discworld merchandising is done quite well isn't it, less crap than other franchises. Though I'm sure nanny Ogg has a cook book in the books, and it's full f sex based recipes?

Talking of Discworld, I'm thinking of buying the two Cartoons they made, on DVD (Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters). From what I remember they were quite well done, anyone know if they're worth buying? And why isn't there a Film yet

The smoothie has been introduced very recently to Spain, most people don't even know it yet!

I'm not even sure they smoothie machines here... What are they by the way? I thought blenders were smoothie makers...

BTW, the only smoothie recipe I have is smiliar to yours but with strawberry yoghurt instead of strawberries and yoghurt.... Oh and the banana is frozen...

It isn't strawberry season anyway...

Today I tried a carrot smoothie, it was werid but decent..

Dom: No idea about the cartoons, but buy Science of the Discworld I and II .. absolutely essential for anyone who wants to develop a better understanding of an enormous range of subjects from cosmology to evolutionary biology to the determinism/free will debate.

I just wanted to know what smootie machine was! I know they exist...

BTW, did anybody know that some webcomics have recipes as well? Like Schlock Mercenary's chupaqueso recipe...

Nanny Oggs cookbook is ultra-cool, even though I've maybe only used two of the recipes.

I've only seen the Soul Music movie, which was... ok. You already know most of the jokes, and the character designs on some of the characters are horrible.... Especially the wizards.

People generally use blenders. With harder ingredients, you've pretty much got to, but when using soft fruits like bananas etc, the result when doing it by hand is better .. more satisfying.

Nanny Ogg wrote a cookbook with "scipy" recipies in the book Maskerade!

The book about the opera and where Agnes perdita X nit has her first big role in the books...

btw, did any of you read his latest book yet? Monstrous regiment? Another classic if you ask me

Hmm, I'm a little behind, the last Discworld book I read was Thief of Time (Partly because I'd overdone it a bit on catching up with the oldies and got a bit sick of the books). How many have I missed? Also I've only got around 4 of the older ones I haven't read now .. want to catch up on those.

I've been wanting to read The Night Watch for ages but I still can't find it in Hungary. It is quite irritating because the Watch is my favorite. What series, if any, did his latest fall in?

Monstrous Regiment is a standalone bok, allthough it features a lot of characters from the Watch, and The Truth...

Yeah I've read that. I liked it, but it didn't make me laugh at all. But it was an original and fun story. Having said that...

Spoiler:

The revelation that everyone was women was too over the top for me, and I got fed up with it by the time the the second person was outed because I could see exactly where it was going. Especially in the final sections in the castle. It almost ruined the book for me.

But I loved some of the touches, like the Lieutenant who wears such a ridiculous outfit everyone is convinced hes been caught, (and pratchett convinces the reader) and then he turns up out of the blue. And I thought the use of Vimes and the watch was good, as side characters.

Moos: The latest book was has original locations and characters, with minor roles for Vimes and 1 or 2 watch members.

You should try importing a copy of The Watch, it's not bad, though don't expect a straight story about the Watch.

I really hope the 2004 novel doesn't feature the watch at all though, I want a change.
