Here's a Wiki on Durian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian
Durian is known as the King of all Fruits. Most Westerners can't stand the smell of durians, and some even complaint that it smells like rotten flesh. It's actually an acquired taste, and once you get past the smell, you'll love the taste. The flavour is exquisite. Famous Durian would be the D24 durian. It's very expensive and very fleshy and sweet.

Durian is a very pungent smelling and tasting fruit. You either love it or hate it.
And yeah, I send tasteful postcards, too, but it depends on where I am. L.A. postcards are best when they're tacky, because L.A. is a tacky city, especially Hollywood.

I saw Durians in markets but they didn't seem to smell too bad, either they smell worse when they're peeled or I'm too used to the smell of rancid kebabs. I liked the anti-durian signs on the subways though

Seebar... me thinks you're a Malaysian at heart already
Hey, those of you who wants a postcard, please PM me before Thursday. I'm not sure when's the next time I'm going online when I come home to Malaysia, so I'd like to collect the address between now and Thursday. No pressure!

Hey guys!
Hope you guys are having a good summer. Ben and I just came back from our weekend in Singapore two days ago. It was a great two day adventure of just sight-seeing and exploring Orchard Road, Little India, China Town and Esplanade and goodness where else. My feet hurt. Ben bought a Nintendo DS Lite at Funan IT Mall for a great deal. Lucky sod. So far I've taken Ben sight-seeing around Kuala Lumpur (Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, birdpark, Lake Gardens), Malacca (including the old Portuguese fort A Famosa) and Kuala Selangor (where it's famous for fireflies habitat - 45 minutes boat ride along the swamp at night). We fed monkeys, too! Been stuffing him with some of the local cuisines and he's suffered through most the spicy dishes (curry, laksa, rendang... you name it) and some odd fruits which include the infamous durian. At least he's discovered some love for nasi lemak and kaya toasts, and I'm glad about that. Plus my mum tends to get a little over-enthusiastic about feeding him... Anyways, hope to be able to upload some pics real soon. Those who are expecting postcards, check your mailbox. Hopefully they won't get lost in Mr. Postman's mailbag. Tomorrow we're heading down to Port Dickson for a day at the beach. Take care people! Lots of love from us! -Mira-

I'm so glad you're having a good time. Is your mom trying to fatten Ben up? He is kind of skinny. |
