We're also getting American idol over here but we're some weeks behind you. Today I watched them sing Queen songs.

I saw an episode of American Idol and was hugely shocked to see that anything could surpass the original British version, Pop Idol, in sheer horridness.

They don't show the American Idol finale here until Friday evening.

The song that's played a lot on my favourite radio channel is the Russian entry: Never Let You Go. I'm beginning to like it now that I've heard it several times.
I haven't heard Hard Rock Hallelujah once. I guess the Russian entry suits the channel better.

I watched it. Finland and Lithuania amused me, and for that I think it's a good thing that they did well.
Aside from those two, the only other entries that I actually liked at all were Romania and Germany. I also liked the stage show from the Armenian entry, but found the song mediocre and dull. Most of the others were forgettable, or memorable only in being particularly awful or simply embarrassing to watch. |

So, what on earth was the story with the chap giving the results of the Swedish vote on last night's contest? He seemed to be drunk, or on drugs, or both.
Not that I watched it, of course. |

He's called Björn Gustavsson, a comedian who just recently had his breakthrough and has become insanely popular. He's really weird at times. By the time he was giving the results of the Swedish vote I had stopped watching so I don't know what he did. I'm not surprised it was something to talk about though. Let's just forget about the whole Eurovision spectacle.

I'm shocked that one of the songs actually was rather good. To bad that they (Turkey) didn't won. I've started listening to Mor ve Ă–tesi and they have even better songs. I never throught you could be introduced to good bands by looking at Eurovision but now I've been proven wrong.

I was thinking that Greece would win, but the Russian immigrants in all European countries and the old satellite nations of Russia voted their choice.
Weird stuff, the ice skater guy was their main selling point, I think. The song itself was horrible crap. France's performer caused an upset or so I heard, because he was the first French singer ever to sing in this competition in English. The French were reportedly very angry about this or something like that.

*Bump*
I just had to bring this whole European Song Contest spectacle back since we just had our national contest tonight. And a girl (same age as my son) from my small hometown won!! It's kind of surreal. She's a singer songwriter type of artist and thus won't be successful in the Eurovision finals, but that's just good imho.

Our regular viewers will be pleased to see that I am prepared to take my usual stance of hatred towards Eurovision.
That said, if I ever get the chance to do the commentary for it (don't know how that'll ever happen), I will do it, just to rip on everyone.

But now I'll have to watch the finals just to see how things will turn out for Anna. She's a talented girl but I don't think the Eurovisions is her arena.

The guy who represents Norway is actually from my town. Which is kind of fun, since it's a small town of 30.000 inhabitants.

The only thing I know is that the Netherlands always ends last, with a standard deviation of 3 places or so. This time we will again do that because we are represented by a very sweet girl, 17 years old, who has no chance of winning.
Edit: can you post a link to Anna, Jelena? |

We've probably picked some cheesy-sounding donkeywank from some reality TV show.
