There´s a lot of tactical voting going on in the Eurovision. The Nordic countries often, but not always give each other good points. The eastern Europe countries do the same and Germany has for instance been giving Turkey 12 points for the last 20 years () due to all the Turkish immigrants.

Eurovision really sucks!

With that said, it's totally outstanding that Lordi won. Next year 30% of the contenders will play metal. I can't believe they won. I didn't watch the entire thing but Norway was actually good too. The rest really sucked from what I saw (it was actually bad even if you take in consideration that it's eurovision).

You think there might be some kind of hidden message in there?

"We are the win-ers, of eu-ro-vision, VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE for the winners!"

If anyone didn't see it you have to check out this video:

Youtube has another video of the Lithuanian entry:

I love it, it´s really funny.

Finland was great, they really deserved to win.
And i´m also very happy that Sweden didn´t win, i really hate the singer Carola(homophobic religious fanatic.)

I just watched Finland's entry on YouTube. I love the singer's little hat, and when he holds up that yuge axe at the end of the song.

(They totally are a GWAR rip-off.)

As far as costumes goes then I can agree to some extent. But musicly Lordi tend to borrow/be inspired by/rip-off other artists, like Alice Cooper and KISS.

Heh, it was funny to see that this time a good artist won. Lordi is a nice KISS "tribute" band. Like some of you might have seen, one of the guys hanging out with Lordi at backstage had a Gene Simmons KISS makeup on.

I'm not a fan of Lordi, but they still play good hard rock, but that wasn't metal like some here say.
Yeah so Finland won, with the all time highest ranking score, 292 points.

Every song in that competition was once again full of crap, with the exception of Finland and Lithuania.

I was kind of disappointed on Terry Wogan's contribution, I thought that he would've been funnier after everything that I had heard from the earlier competitions...

Finland/Lithuania deserved to win because they had the guts just to take the piss. The A Capella one was genuinely quite interesting. The UK entry was very bad but not quite as apalling as France and Israel (6 Points between them, if I remember). Why are Israel even in eurovision?

Has anyone noticed a striking similarity between this and the Finnish entry....?

And as for Finland. It's no worse than the rest of the songs, but it is in no way a good song. And when I hear people call it original, I feel like vomiting. It's got screaming, a typical Eurovision medley and masks. That is all. There's nothing original in doing those things.

Arrgh! I wish we could watch the Eurovision contest here.
Of course, we do have "American Idol", but it's not quite the same. At least Alabama has been represented well by Ruben Studdard (winner, season 3), Bo Bice (first runner-up, season 4), and Taylor Hicks (one of the top two finalists, current season).

Eurovision song contest is something we love to hate. Still I watch it every year, or at least try to watch it without falling asleep. It´s been shorter though since they put in the semi finals, or at least divided the spectacle on two different nights.

Argh, you're going to get burned for that if some people see this. It has as much right to be a state as any other, and if you look at the forming of the UK you can't really claim that it was any better, most states have been formed through injustices. Much of the United States was formed through the bloodshed of native Americans. Northern Ireland had mass immigration of protestant northerners (Scotland and England). Much of the world has this same pattern.

Israel is occupying terrority, encourages settlements, has one of the worst human rights records inside and out of its far from clearly defined borders. None of which makes it any less of a state, it actually seems more like something you have to do to join the club.

It's definitely not in Europe but it has really rubbish pop bands, so that alone qualifies it.

Norway and Croatia were my favourites even though it was all p00p.

UK was crappy and shared nothing in common with what a rap song should actually sound like,

Greece was pathetic/melodramatic

the guy singing 'i do, i do, i do..' was just so annoying,

Terry Wogan is a racist bastard (double standards),

so much hate so little time,

the rock band was a gimmick,

half the women were sincere bimbo's,

and quite frankly it was so bad it was good.

this was probably all mentioned earlier but i don't have time to read just now so i apologise.

Umm.. You could say that the whole country is stolen since they were just put there by the Allied, so that don't make much sense either. Thats part of the problem. When they where given the country nobody explained exactly what was theirs and what the current citizens should have.. Defining Israel is like walking on a waxcovered rope over quicksand.. in short not to be recommended..

But, I can answer why Israel is a part of eurovision. Since the colonies Israel was made of was part german and part allied territory, and they never officialy became a free country, just a gift, Israel has always been looked apon as a european country. Other factors are religion, import and export and culture.
