Out of those two I'd choose Led Zepplin...the other looks like rap...I hate rap...

The question shouldn't be "Is illmatic the greatest album of all-time", it's "Was illmatic the greatest album released that day". The Offspring's Smash was released that day.

Ehh...Why those two? There are other albums that are widely considered the best (and I actually have never heard of either one beign the best ever), such as Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, The Beatles' Revolver or White Album, Nirvana's Nevermind, NWA's Straight Outta Compton, Radiohead's OK Computer...maybe the Aphex Twin's Richard D James Album for the electronic-lovers (notice I'm trying to find albums from various musical genres). In any case, your choices need some expanding and/or replacing. I think.
EDIT: How about Trans-European Express by Kraftwerk? Last edited by Spiwak; 04-25-2006 at 04:02 PM. |

Yeah you're right, I'm sure there were better albums released that day that would stand a better chance against Smash.

Wow. A wigger joke. It takes a lot of wit to be as original and relevent as that. Even though it's almost impossible to find people like that anymore, but that's okay. Being a pasty, pimple-faced "punk" kid is cool and it's hilarious to hate and make fun of hip-hop, even though you've never heard good hip-hop, but rather just listened to ten seconds of "in Da Club" by 50 Cent. |

Yeah. In 1998 I went to a showing in Lafayette, Indiana. They had two screens. One screen was showing the movie with the album playing and they had the movie sound rigged such that occasional dialogue came up. The other screen had funky light effects. They only went through the album once and then switched to showing parts of The Wall (which I've never seen all of).
It was really cool. |

Ooh, so it actually worked? Interesting!
Apparently the effect doesn't work as well in PAL countries because of the way the movie is transferred to video, but it'd be worth a go anyway. I'd also like to see The Wall, although apparently it gets pretty disturbing. I love the album though. Comfortably Numb is my favourite song of all time, and my favourite version is the one they did at Live 8! |

IV or Illmatic. I've never heard either of those two albums called the best ever. I mean, unless you used the two you did because YOU think they're the best ever. Quote:

Led Zeppelin is eternal, also Pink Floyd. There is poetry there.
