'Pole to Pole' is a record of Palin's travels from the North Pole to the South Pole, travelling across as much land as possible. It's in eight episodes of about 50 minutes each, but (as you might expect) the vast majority of the trip is spent traversing Africa. I think the Estonia bit is only about 15 minutes in total, if that - he interviews a group of brothers who are singing banned(?) Estonian folk songs in the main square in Tallinn. He then spends an episode travelling through Russia by train, from "Leningrad" and on to Kiev, then across the Black Sea to Turkey. There's a great sequence of him trying to procure some vodka which feels just like a certain Dead Parrot Sketch...

It's a really good series, well presented, and it's the reason why I went to Tallinn last year. Great place!

Neverwhere the novel is actually adapted from the TV series and not the otherway around.

Gaiman and Lenny Henry came up with the idea which was broadcast in 1996. Gaiman then decided to adapt it into his first novel and it was published in 1997.

There is also a comic book adaption that came out last year and Gaiman has occasionally spoken of writing a sequel.


Edit: I forgot to say I actually got the DVD set in Florida because even though the series was made by the BBC you can't acctually get the DVD in the UK.

I have My So-Called Life, Life As We Know It, and Once and Again seasons 1 and 2 (hoping season 3 will be released at some point!) All excellent shows that were cancelled before their time. I watch these over and over and over.

We also have a Six Feet Under season and a few of the Sopranos, but have taken to renting those instead because we tend not to watch them more than once. We're currently midway through watching the first season of 24.
