It's a bit like Starburst. They are not Starburst. They are Opal Fruits, dammit!

I've always known them as Starburst (I've been around a lot longer than you ) - maybe it's an American thing.

Reminds me of that question from the german version of "The Weakest Link".

The question went: What was the name of the roman god of War?

The person answered: Snickers!

On a non food related note, I remember when we had "Jif" & "Oil of Ulay" as opposed to "Cif" & "Oil of Olay". I don't like these companies changing our brand names.

I've just noticed I'm eating something called a "Cadbury Bubbly" if they've renamed the Wispa, I'm gonna go nuts!

How dare they take our Opal Fruits from us just to conform to your global commercialisation! They already took our penny chews from us and made them two pennies! How much more does our candy industry have to suffer in the name of conformity?? Hear me now brothers! Rise against this tirade of abuse!

What's worse is when one of the mega corps put a smaller company out of business, and your favorite whatever isn't made anymore.

When I was a kid there was a candy bar called Waleeco - a coconut bar with dark chocolate that was 10 times better than the Mounds or Almond Joys. No more though - they are no longer being made. sigh...

You were told a lie.
A "Marathon" was 12 inches (they had a ruler printed on the side of the wrapper) of braided chewy caramel coated in milk chocolate. They were pretty good and the caramel had a distinctly buttery flavor, but it would gum up your teeth something awful.

No, he's absolutely right. The UK name for the Snickers used, indeed, to be the humble Marathon Bar.

When my mom makes crÍpes, they're usually smaller, so I have them with Nutella. When I'm out, ordering crÍpes, they're freaking huge, in which case I don't like them that sweet, 'cause they get sickening about halfway through. On those occasions, I have them with apricot jam and pieces of walnut (well, last time it was apricot jam and hazelnut, because I drew a blank on what you call walnut in English...). This combo is filling, but not hard on the tummy, and absolutely refreshing. I just got a craving for one.

P.S. Pancake day falls on my birthday? That's pretty cool.

I guess so, but I actually forgot about it and have only now realised that I missed it after seeing this thread.

Where have I been.
