Default How do you stir?

I was stirring my coffee this fine evening when it got me thinking (Funny isn’t it?). I prefer to stir while the spoon is touching the bottom of the mug and I always make certain that my spoon clangs on all sides of it as I stir.

Ditto, most of the time, though sometimes I will move my spoon across the cup rather than round it in order to disrupt the flow.

I prefer things shaken, not stirred.

I stir vigorously clockwise, then switch and stir counter clockwise. I do not like spoon clanking.

I rarely stir anything, but I whisk in a clockwise manner and fold in a counter-clockwise manner.

First I have to find a spoon. Then I need to find a small wheel which can be turned into a turbine that can be driven by the rising heat from the coffee, and a rubber band for a belt. I assemble it all in my inventory, and use it on the cup of coffee.

You know, the secret of this world is that there is no spoon

I just made a cup of tea for testing purposes.

I stir with the rapid efficiency of the veteran caffeine addict, it seems. It sounds a litttle bit like a very small train leaving the station.

I have mine black which negates the requirement of any spoon like device.

I drink my tea (whatever variety it might be, green, black, or oolong)without adding anything but I can't take coffee without milk. Black coffee, especially darker roasts, taste too bitter to me and I need milk to cut the bitterness a bit. Those who drink blak coffee, doesn't bitterness bother you? I've wondered about that forever.

I like to stir clockwise for three revolutions. The spoon shouldn't touch the bottom, but should make contact with the side occasionaly in order to produce that nice "ting" from the fine bone china.

If it's too bitter, then you're probably not making it properly. You need about 2 tablespoons ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. The most bitter compounds are released after water has already carried away the good stuff, so if you have a lot of water running through too little coffee you're going to end up with a bitter product. Some people like bitter coffee, but the bitterness really obscures a lot of the best flavor.

Yes, I know that seems like a lot of coffee, but the next time you buy a good, smooth cup of joe somewhere, ask how much coffee was used. If you prefer a less concentrated coffee, add some hot water to your cup rather than skimping during the brewing process.

By the way, Glenn, I stir most things with chopsticks rather than a spoon, but I answered your poll anyway.

The spoon is perpendicular to the counter at all times and moves back and forth in a straight line between the 10 and 5 o'clock positions. The tip of the spoon varies from half to three-quarters of an inch above the bottom of the mug and the number of stirring motions is mostly dependent on how hot the beverage is. I then drag one edge of the spoon head over the lip of the mug to rid it of excess drips. Three times. No more, no less.

All this goes out the window when I use a stirring stick.

I am also a terrible lover. Hi.
