You're used to forests of which there are plenty in Northern California (plus the mountains ). They both have their charms I'm sure. I like the more northern area but I've not been to So Cal yet so I'm sure there are some cool parts to it.

Edit: Although, So Cal women dress a little skimpier than up north. I know a vet student who wears impossibly short skirts and midriff baring tops and I was told it was a So Cal thing.

From talking to people around here who have moved to the south or midwest, they all come back saying how weird it is, because the land is completely flat. Up here, you're always surrounded by mountains no matter where you go. I think if I were to move anywhere, it would be northern Cali, because I hear it's pretty similar to NY landwise.

Going to California, uh? Lucky boy . I'm sure the bad memories will just melt before the utter coolness of the place. Have fun, Trep!

Sure, keep telling yourself that.

Trep, I hope your flight was uneventful.

I know a girl from Pasadena, she likes to drink ribena
She takes it as it comes (she takes it as is comes)
And she likes to ride the horses, isn't bored about divorces
Creeping past the window

*sings*

Be well, mate. Be well!

It sounds as though your friends who moved South may have gone too far. The further away you get from the ocean down here, the more mountainous the landscape becomes. Birmingham is very hilly, as is Montgomery, but just South of Montgomery the land levels out and is flat all the way to the Gulf Of Mexico.

Am I the only one that isn't worried in the least and does not think that Trep needs support other than the one he already gets? Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to be distant/insensitive, or even saying don't support him, but reading the first post had me scratching my head a bit... because as far as I'm concerned, Trep will pass this part of his life with flying colours.

Meh. Sorry, I'm really not wanting to be rude. I'm just a bit stumped.

Well, Pink, same here... I can understand your sentiment. But I'll support him anyhow. He's going from a bad situation to a good one and with tons of support from his family on arrival. As I said, he'll be fine.

I'd say we should feel incredibly jealous and shun him instead.

Better to have the support and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Pasadena is a great town! I tend to go there quite a bit as I only work 30 minutes away and there are some great happy hour/restaurant spots there. Best of luck with your transition Trep. You seem to always find a way to land on your feet so I'm confident you'll adapt to your new surroundings quickly.

And yes, socal is cooler...err...hotter than nocal, there is no doubt!
