I think Thrice are a good headbanging band. I like them even though they sound more metal than punk.

Well she's not superbly pretty, but she's got a kind of an appeal that captured my attention the first time I saw the video.

When are you going to post a pic of you wearing that outfit on your blog?

Er, SJH's not around now, is he?

Good, good.

Damn, now I'm curious about that video as well. I have no idea how I'm going to get it, but I need to watch it now!

Good, good.

Watch out he doesn't stab you with a 2B pencil. He did threaten to stab Lucien with a pencil once, and he's got plenty

I thought about adding them to the list, but I really feel that they turned out to be more of a pop band than a rock band, although they did have a couple of good songs (American TV and Perserverance)

Ok, ignore everything up to here - I had forgotten how good Terrorvision were!
How could I have not included them when they made the incredible album "How To Make Friends and Influence People"

Alice What's the Matter
Oblivion
Pretend Best Friend
Ten Shades of Grey
Stop the Bus

- all amazing songs, althouigh they went downhill after that

It's pretty hard to live up to an album as good as that

Making recommendations based on your preferences;

Rage Against The Machine (very invigorating, the first for songs on Battle For Los Angeles are a real killer punch. Always remind me of The Matrix)

Ash (Irish pop-punk. Hardly lyrically deep, but simply brilliant pop music. "Burn Baby Burn" and "Orpheus" are my favourites)

Idlewild (Their earlier album are straight-up hard rock, but recently they have explored pop and country to good effect. Have a knack for anthemic vocal lines (and a weakness for tautology). I would recommend the songs "What If You Held The World In Your Arms", "A Little Discourage", "When I Argue I See Shapes", and "El Capitan")

Desaparecidos (More obscure. They are basically a side project of Emo-Indie-Folkster Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), But sound nothing like it. They play hard-rock with a political message about consumerism and US foreign policy. They only have one album (Read Music, Speak Spanish) but have new material planned.)

Not anymore. Their new record is ace (file under Sparta, Cave In, Isis, Neurosis, and so on).

Sparta, great catch. At the drive-in, the band it spun-off from, is also good, while the other spin-off (Mars Volta) isn't so good.

Yeah, one of my Russian pals lent me a Nightwish album. But to be honest... I didn't really get into it.

Yeah, I don't like it that much.

I also don't like Stratovarius, which is a bit like Nightwish.

Exactly. They did get poppy after that, kinda like Reef did.

Seconded on RATM.

Thirded (?) on RATM.

I love Nightwish "Ocean's Born" album, but the rest is a bit too... boring.

Manic Street Preachers - Gold Against The Soul. Worth it for 'From Despair To Where' alone. Had me jumping around my old bedroom annoying my parents when I got it I liked Everything Must Go too, although it's a different style (probably cos it was the first album without Richey).

I'm also an Everclear fan, and def agree with the classics like Reef and Ash.

Everclear. I remember them, vaguely... they might be quite good. I heard The Crimea recently and they were fun stuff.

Also picked up a CD which was vaguely Doves/Radiohead today. The Other? I think? I can't be sure. First track is a fleeting drumbeat against a plainitive horn... really nice. Very epic, but for the life of me I can't remember the name... damnit! Ok Go are rather good too right now.

Oh, it was The Open. Really love the opener, something special indeed.
