Football (Like Lucien said, the real sport and not the one where grown men strap pillows around themselves and use their hands - it's football dammit! )

Most hated rival - Newcastle
Most hated cos they're owned by a Russian billionaire and their reserves are worth about 50 times what our entire team is - Chelsea
Most annoying fans - Toss up between Spurs, West Ham and Chelsea

Apparently you can add my local Pompey to that list soon ...

Anyway, I just dislike the game of football. Cricket: Australia, but that's traditional!

Let's see:

Hockey: Jokerit (Helsinki), Sweden, and Canada if they continue winning everything like they seem to do these days.

Football (you guessed it, real football): Manchester United, Germany, Italy

Formula 1: Ferrari (until Kimi Räikkönen joins them that is )

Formula one: Not a team, but a driver. And that would be Jaques Villeneuve.
Football (soccer): Italy, for being so damn lucky during the penalty shootout against the Netherlands in the EC in 2000.

Aye, good news about them matey, we could do with some cash like that!

As far as international goes, I hate Turkey the most cos every time we play them, people always seem to die. Some of their fans are a little on the violent side.

Why of course, up North we're all very polite and charming to rival fans, as you'll know. Sunderland and Newcastle fans always enjoy a nice cup of tea together after the match. I'm sure it's the same in Scotland

Any thoughts on why "football" never took off in America? I've never seen an actual game, but it's pretty fun to play. Too bad most Americans consider it a sport for "fags."

I've honestly never heard Soccer/Football called a sport for fags. If you think about it, it's a very physical game played without any protection whatsoever. Maybe it's David Beckham's fault.

It's actually pretty common to hear. I don't know why Americans can be so intolerant.

Of course, you commie non-Americans are no better about our football.

I've never heard of soccer referred to as being a sport for "fags" either, Sam... maybe it's just a thing around where you live, specifically? (shrug)

I think soccer's neat enough, though I have to admit I don't really see why the rest of the planet seems as gung-ho about it as they are. Then again, I don't understand the appeal of American football either.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Here football is called a poof's game(because of the way modern players act sometimes, and in reference to a stereotype), but so is American Football(because of the pads), mainly by Rugby fans. I used to play both rugby and football in school. I go to watch rugby games(yeah it's a hard sport), and play football once a week(I get bruises, it's not that soft a game), and from what I've watched of American football the way they tackle is dangerous and you'd be insane not to wear pads. Footballers wear pads, on their shins, being kicked in the shins hurts like hell.

Teams I hate:Ferrari, Man Utd, Australia(Rugby Union)

I've heard similar sentiments. What I commonly hear is how players bitch about small injuries others caused them.

I wish I could find a certain edited photograph, which had some players lined up to block a goal shot, and they've got purses in their hands and look scared.
