One million poste eh. Well taking the top eight posters (Who account for more than 71% of the posts to date) the statistics pan out as follows)

Posted to date
  • Rob 428
  • Karm 250
  • Scott 166
  • Trep 138
  • SNM 129
  • step 104
  • Seeb 97
  • Mel 78
Total 1390

Percentages per forumite
  • Rob 30.8%
  • Karm 18.0%
  • Scott 11.9%
  • Trep 9.9%
  • SNM 9.3%
  • step 7.5%
  • Seeb 7.0%
  • Mel 5.6%
Now, if we assume these 8 forumites are all in for the long haul to one million and will post in similar proportions we can divide up the work as follows.

Total needed for a million
  • Rob 307914
  • Karm 179856
  • Scott 119424
  • Trep 99281
  • SNM 92806
  • step 74820
  • Seeb 69784
  • Mel 56115
Total 1000000

Total additonal posts needed per forumite
  • Rob 307486
  • Karm 179606
  • Scott 119258
  • Trep 99143
  • SNM 92677
  • step 74716
  • Seeb 69687
  • Mel 56037
Total 998610

So you've got to post 307,486 more times Rob. Don't let us down man.

I've gotta post almost 70,000 more times?? That seems like quite a lot. Maybe we can get someone who scored high on the geek quiz to write some program that automatically posts. And make it clever, so it thinks up witty responses to the previous post.

I'm disappointed, stepurhan; you didn't calculate how long it was going to take ...

Ah, the madcap, devil-may-care antics of an accountant who has already closed the books on fiscal 2005.
I lived with an accountant for a while, so I've seen this before. This is a rare and happy time each year that is alternately enjoyed and feared by an accountant's loved ones.
Still, accountants remain the most-often neglected members of the Holy Triumvirate...that is, the three people with whom you should always be brutally honest, no matter what.

Everyone should be brutally honest with me by telling of their adoration for me .

This shouldn't take long.

And naturally my question is - who are the other two?

Okay...
I suppose for someone who's only 6.2% sexually corrupt, you're an allright guy.
I've heard that virtue is it's own reward, which is a good thing because that's all you'll get for it.

Not accountancy related - if you Google 'Thread Must Die' this thread is #7 on the front page and if you put it in quotes, it's #5.

Accountancy related:

try the url:

Edit: I realized it was too small after. It took a while to reload the picture (dial up ) Hopefully this is better. Darn, it isn't. Let me try again. I give up - I can't get the friggin' thing bigger.

Hang on, you mean there are four more successful searches for "Thread Must Die"?

Quick, people! Work harder!

Oh, and Mel, that comic is way too small to read...

The Three People With Whom You Should Always Be Brutally Honest:
Your Doctor;
Your Lawyer;
Your Accountant.
These people are all trained professionals, and to lie to them or to hide facts from them is to court disaster.

I'm disappointed that I'm no longer one of the top posters on this thread.

Being brutally honest with the other three will help you survive her wrath. Think about it.

I'm disappointed that I'm not responsible for twice the number of posts of my nearest competitor. Yet.

Buck up, little buckaroo; Quality still beats quantity. Your posts usually make me laugh or at least smile, whereas some people's posts just make me roll my eyes in disgust.

Are you implying that my posts are something less than the superb examples of wit and erudite comment that they so plainly are?

Every bit as much as you're implying that you agree with me by jumping to the conclusion that I was talking about you.
