That's better!
I was afraid you might have fallen in with a group of internet scalawags and ne'er-do-wells. It's good to know that the stress of competition hasn't caused your grammar and vocabulary to desert you entirely.

Your vociferous complaints are noted.

My vocabulary I reformulate,
allowing me to inculcate...

You're resorting to Gilbert & Sullivan now? You need rest, buddy. Go on, take a nap. We'll wake you if anything happens.

Though your statement is bold
the reception is cold,
and I've already told
sympathisers

if I needed a rest
I'd be failing the test,
and then I'd be divest
-ed of prizes.

Oh you're clever with rhyme
From time to time
But you're not gonna win this contest.

The prize will be won
By the South's favorite son
And you will be judged second-bestest.

Hmm. I'm not sure that the line lengths allow you to add the extraneous "est" there, Scott . Wrecks the rhythm.

Pfft! This from the man who most egregiously tortured "divested"? I took no more liberties with the rhyme's metering than you did.

Actually, the line lengths in each "verse" of mine were the same number of syllables (6 6 6 4). That's why splitting up the word is acceptable in a mock-G&S manner (though infintely less well handled).

Whereas, if you check the last lines of your "verses" the first is 9 syllables long and the second 10. That's why the second "est" doesn't work.

Clearly they don't teach much counting at Oxford. Both last lines of my verses are nine syllables long...unless you pronounced "judged" with two syllables.

Oh yeah? Well, you haven't met ME in person yet, big boy. I don't go down so easily (as it were) with a quip and a gaze, and I'm far too slippery to snag with mere parlour tricks. Hmmph. I'll take you up on your little claim, if you want to continue it in 'The [art of] flirting thread'! Ha!

I wouldn't try interfering, Robsie. As an amateur you may get caught in the 'crossfire'.

I don't talk to hands. I hold them and position them to maximum effect. Would you like a demonstration?

OK, I'll happily lose this competition if someone just locks the thread. This is too gross for me .
