This is not the "post yer screenshots thread", though.

Yes, I agree with you, RLacey, that things are not looking too oojah-cum-spiff at the moment, but be of good cheer. An adventure gamer is seldom baffled for more than the nonce.

Then what you should have done is state that and used the pan on the poster, not the ugly screen-shot. And a tip for future panning: Use the pan tag instead of the pan smiley for better results.

But I didn't object to the poster, only the pictures. I could have, as you said, state the issue and pan the user, but I'd be panning something (or someone) who was not a problem. The user who posted the images and the images themselves are two different things.

That plan isn't gonna work, I can guarantee you.

The picture you posted was from material which should have been posted in the "general" section of subject forum, which would in an event only be posted in this forum in anwser to a non-general gaming question, or to ask a question. It has little to nothing to do with the Thread it was posted in. [The thread it was posted in was not on a gaming subject] In the event that in a non-gaming thread this subject would come up, the posted pictures would be excusable. However, the posts prior to the said post did not contain a gaming subject, and contested said post did not attempt to kill the Thread.

First thing is the walls. They'd look better with some lighting, though. That shelf could use a shadow. The character's ears are too polygonic. It wouldn't take much to round them out a bit. His face is pretty good, though he looks like he hasn't eaten a lot lately.

But if you made that, I'd like to say "well done". It looks like an almost-decent commercial game.

It's Morrowind, the predecessor to Oblivion.

And the face is custom made, because the original faces were not all that good.

I use a lot of mods. Better Bodies, Better Heads, the Mixed Textures texture replacer, and several games adding balance.

Here's some of the mods I've once listed off the top of my head:

Quote:
But for the variety, that's what mods for. I have Haldenshore, BetterBodies, BetterHeads, Better Argonians (very pretty and colourful, with more detailed scales), Havish, LGNPC-Project ("Less Generic NPC Project". Adds unique dialogue and stories to the different NPCs. Also adds quest. For example, you can get one of the ladies in Seyda Neen and the Bard in Arille's Tradhouse together. The other NPCs recognise your actions. Also, the different mods make reference to other mods of the LGNPC project, and there's mods spanning several of the modded cities.) mods for several cities (all of the mods that are currently available), several game balance mods (for example, several merchants don't sell their stuff unless I am of their faction. Annoying at times, but also realistic), Necessities of Morrowind, the Pearl Palace (having one quest), Morrowind Crafting, Children of Morrowind and "Your Morrowind Family", Witchgirl Adventure, Thief Companion Constance (she gets me in trouble. Once I had to go to prison because she handed me 500 Large Kwama Eggs she had stolen. ), Louis/Rin's Beauty Shop, Temperature Mod, White Wolf of Lokken, Lokken Children, Emma's Dagon Fel (adding unique faces to each of the NPCs in Dagon Fel), Emma's TelMora (Same as the previous, only with TelMora), Unique Balmora (The one that inspired Emma to do the previous two. This one is for Balmora), Wayfarer's Rest, JoinAllHouses, Solstheim Castle (house mod, also adding quests), to name only a few. Oh, and last but not least: Julan Ashlander Companion. He's awesome. And he's romanceable!
Of course, since then I have added at least 50-60 more mods to my game.

I think the ears are so polygonal because in Morrowind, the ears are attached to the hair part, and thus don't always have texturing. There was a project furthering Better Heads, planning to change it so that the neck is better, and the ears are attached to faces. Also, I don't think that Morrowind originally came with Antialiasing. And the Morrowind Graphic Extender doesn't like my game. It makes it hang itself.

But it is possible to have nice ears this way, too. Look at my sweet Julan's ears:

I 'dig' those feral-ish elven ears.

I haven't found a way to turn on environment shadows yet, though. I believe there is none so far.
