So I take it the word fourth is only used in the context of the first, second, ... ? How do you say something divided by eight? Sixteen? Thirty-two? Or something more uncommon like... three?

Ah. Good to know. I knew that a "normal" note in music is called a quarter, and I thought I remembered some strange word for the eights. Quaver or something like that?
