My friends and I arranged a bridal shower (expr?) for one of our friends who was getting married. We dressed up in togas made out of sheets (I had a bright green one) and took her for a boat trip with one of the 'party boats' in our archipellago. We had a great time and met a bunch of guys from a motorcycle club (friendly, nice guys) and danced with them.
The year after the same group of girls joined the yearly carneval at our hometown dressed in the exact same togas. Believe it or not, dancing in the carnival we end up next to the guys from the motorcycle club. Imagine their faces seeing us, dressed in sheets again. I've seen those guys twice in my life, both times dressed in a green sheet.

Uh-huh... and does Christer know about this? Meeting strange men while in who knows WHAT stage of undress? And in public as well! Tsk-tsk!

BTW we have both baby and bridal showers here in the US.

Ah, no worries! He knows! This was long ago, we had just met and were madly in love! I am and have always been totally faithful!

You're sure he would be cool with meeting strange foreign male friends of yours that you met on the internet?

We're both very social, chatty people. After living together for as long as we have, there's a large amount of trust. And he understands that these online friends I've made mean a lot to me since I've been so 'far from my ordinary life' being on sickleave this long.
But...he wouldn't let me meet any of you in person by myself just in case someone actually would be a real looney.

I didn't really answer your question:
Yeah, he'd be cool with it!

Fair enough. Not everyone you meet has your best interests at heart.

A wise man, I've met a bunch of nice people online but meeting them in person has always been in large crowded pubs. It makes them a bugger to find sometimes but it is safer that way.

I don't know about the US but while I understand the expression "bridal shower" what you've described sounds more like what I'd call a "hen night" (the male equivalent is "stag night") They are opportunities for the bride and groom to go wild and crazy before they have to settle down to the calm, sensible existence that is married life.

Those toga outfits. Any pictures?

Hen night is a better expression for our tradition of taking the bride out for some fun before the wedding. I've been to a bridal shower in the US and that was more a party to give the bride gifts.
For some reason the stag nights are always wilder and far crazier than the hen nights.
