The point is that it's set at angles so that you can fire to any place within the ditch from within the fortress. It's clever like that.

Are you sure they aren't Angered Bastions, because I'd be pretty pissed off if people couldn't agree on what my name was. All this firing into ditches stuff supports my theory that they're pretty narked.
