It's a sci-fi/fantasy nerd's dream!
... Or is it?

It's Fantasysci5's nerdy dream. Or is it?
Happy Chinese New Year to everyone at the AG forums! Except for RLacey and those who don't believe in dragons.

No, no it's not my dream. Never compare "Lord of the Rings" to "Harry Potter"...ever. Star Wars is eh...it would have been much cooler with Star Trek!

I won't. I wouldn't know where to start, as they're not particularly similar, but they're both good. I have the special extended DVD editions of the LOTR movies in my DVD shelf, and the book (along with some related books - Silmarillion is still unread though) in my bookshelf. I also have all the HP books (the first I got as a gift from my sister, so they're in Swedish - the later ones are in English), and recently bought the complete set of HP movies and watched them all in two weeks. It was interesting to watch them that close after each other (I'd seen some of them before, but not all), and I think they're really good.

The ONLY versions of the LotR movies that are allowed, imo.

I don't know. It was long since I read the book, but I don't remember it being that special. And what I know about the movie can be summarised by "I have heard that Peter Jackson is making it." That's it. Probably will be at least decent, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Hobbit is done, don't know if that is the same as "high hopes" though!
With regards to the Gandalf Picard and the Empire of Secrets photo, I think I would rank the constituent parts in this order: 1. Lord of the Rings 2. Star Trek (next gen) 3. Potter 4. Star Wars I also realise that none of you are interested in this.

I am, very much!
... Or am I? As far as the Harry Potter movies go, while the Prisoner of Azkaban was actually pretty good and definitely the best of the movies (by far), by far the funniest is the Half-Blood Prince. I've rarely laughed so much as I did during the first hour-or-so of the movie. The hilarious innuendoes, bawdynesses and dirtynesses just keep coming one after another. Quote:

Nope. I might be interested in the movie once it's out, but I'm not interested in seeing its trailer.

How about The Man From U.N.C.L.E.? If you like TV of the 60s, you should give it a look. Though the two main characters have played better roles in current TV: Albert in Hustle and Ducky in NCIS. Hustle should be a must-watch for you, as it's a great BBC series.

I think we are all well aware that we passed "there" some time ago. I can't remember who was driving at the time but my vision was obscured by someone's leg and there was something that felt very peculiar digging into my left side. I was going to ask the person concerned, whoever it was, to own up but on reflection it might be better not to know. Did anyone else see who was driving?
