Whenever someone mentions Reno, I think of Sister Act , which makes me smile, then I think of Janet Reno which makes me cringe.

As for the mountains, I know you don't go there for fishing!

Unfortunately, the Nevada Club casino that was featured in Sister Act has since been torn down.

Right you are! For fishing you need water, and there's precious little of that in the desert.

Well, I suppose you need to keep yourself occupied somehow while you're waiting for the fish to bite.

I just got his fifth collection of short stories, "We'll remember it for you wholesale". It's the first of his books I've ever read but I'm loving it, especially the War With Fnools (sp?) story, damn that was funny! Midget aliens disguising themselves as Real Estate Salesmen to invade Earth??

Yes, its hilarious, especialy the ending. The story which shares the name of the title is also belly laugh indulging and was one of his many to be made into an unfaithfull film (Total recall). Just watch out for The Electric Ant which is far more serius and in my opinion the best short story he ever wrote.

Very clever. But, remember, I'm a native English speaker. It's thus apparently acceptable for us not to learn a foreign language .

Definitely not German. In the German language you can't have a comma after an article, you know.

I know, but it's such a good Simpsons quote:

-Sideshow Bob: "No no! That's german for "The, Bart, THE!"

-Woman in murmuring crowd: "He speeks german! He can't be evil."

Heh, I remember that episode. Nice one.

(P.s.: [PEDANT MODE] If you said "The, Thread, THE" or "The, Bart, THE!" in german, it would be "Der, Thread, DER!" or "Der, Bart, DER!", because both Thread and Bart are male in german. And of course, there's still the error with the comma after an article. Just though't I'd mention this so as not to further confuse any forum members that might be learning german at the moment.[/PEDANT MODE]=

I admire your resolve to keep posting, but surely the winner of this thread must be obvious by now? It is me. I can only be me. Quit while you can still retain your pride...

Is Philip K Dick the most horribly abused author when it comes to film adaptations?

Discuss referencing why Blade Runner wasn't called "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", how Minority Report caught the concept but missed the point and why the makes of Paycheck should be taken out, shot, burnt, and have their ashes spread across the galaxy to prevent them doing it again.

For bonus points discuss why treating the makers of Total Recall in the same way as the makers of Paycheck would be too good for them.

Don't ask me about Screamers the film "based" on the short story Second Variety. The results would not be pretty.

Well, here's hoping that A Scanner Darkly will break the curse, altough I'm not overly optimistic.
And if I would be forced (at gunpoint) to say anything good about the efforts allready made at capturing him: It may lead the average Joe to check out some of his works.
