And of course, law on TV is worlds apart from law in reality
Wow, I didn't know that, or maybe it's just different in my country, because some of my friends that study law school, have always complained about how difficult it is for them to memorize all the laws and regulations. It's great that you can actually use the law texts on your exams

Perhaps... We have like two mandatory exams where you can't have the laws with you (although, now that I think about it, I think I heard that in the other universities things vary within Finland too, so indeed you may be right).

Now I wish I had studied Law in Finland! In good ol' blighty we don't have to learn statutes/acts verbatim but we have to know them well enough to apply them in exams without having them in with us.

Your system is much more sensible as in practice, i.e. working as a lawyer, you have all the books to refer to that you want and it is a question not so much of knowing the law, but of knowing where to find it and how to apply it!

EDIT: Reading that back, I just want to make completely clear that I am not trying to belittle Finnish law exams or you yourself Mr Timist. By the sound of things your criminal law exam was much harder than mine was when I took it here. Besides, you are multilingual and I am not so you are demonstrably more intelligent than I am!

I LOVE YOU MAN! *Intense Degree gives UP a (presumably) thoroughly unwanted manhug.

Just finished reading The Man Who Was Thursday on a THURSDAY.

Good book, albeit quite strange at the end. Interesting though.
