Seebaruk,

This is from Rick Steves' website:

House of Terror museum (a museum featuring the Nazi and Communist repression-if you are interested in that sort of thing.)

His travelogue

Cheers Mel, you're a star, I'll have a read of that tomorrow. The Terror museum looks really interesting, think it'll have to be done.

Didn't you hear, "God" is dead.

Do you not smell anything yet of God's decomposition? Gods too decompose. God is dead. God remains dead.

This must have been one of the better attempts to kill the thread Rob!
Too bad it makes me wonder (and so, I have to write another post here) Is this the hymn that Mr Bean is singing in church when he also blows his nose in the pocket of his trousers?

I have no idea; I haven't seen that episode of Mr Bean. It's taken from the Orthodox funeral rights, though, so I doubt it.

For some reason, we get a lot of Mr Bean on Swedish TV. There´s this episode where they´re singing in church and the only part of the lyrics he knows is the ending of each verse: Alleluia, allelluia....
Mr Bean is funny, but I can hardly watch him because it just gets too much.

I went last year - can't believe I missed the House of Terror! Most Eastern European capital cities have something similar, but still...

No specific recommendations from me, because I wasn't there too long. Just have a wander and soak up the atmosphere, and of course the architecture. Once you get up on the hills on either side of the Danube, you get a pretty good view over the city. It's well worth going up at dusk when all the bridges are lit up.

The only other things I can recommend are standard tourist spots, like the Basilica (check out the horrible utilitarian office block right next to it), Heroes' Square and er, that palace that was wrecked and rebuilt in its original form by the Russians - and they'll be on your map.

Check out the catchy tune that plays on the Metro and on the local buses, it'll be in your head for months!

Cheers Huz, looking forward to the catchy tunes already! Might have to do like that guy from Spaced and rave all night long on the Metro

Surely this thread is gonna die of old age any day now?

Whose plans? And you may be immune to those plans, but not to my plans. As you shall see in around 750 posts time...
