I believe strongly that love is love. I´m not the one to judge who he can love or not. He´s actually turning 15 this week and that´s the age when you´re allowed to drive a moped and also have sex. (!)
He´s definitely about to drive a moped since we bought him one that´s waiting for him in the garage. It´s a second hand (from 2002) Furia. He´s working on it every night with his dad. They come back from the garage with engine oil all over their hands (and a little in the face) and smell of gas. He´s a happy kid!
About the sex I´m pretty certain there´s no special person right now. I hope he´ll wait a couple of years. I´d guess he´ll go for girls but if it turnes out otherwise that´ll be OK too.
( I´m planning on buying him a pack of condomes for his birthday as a present. I think he´ll laugh out loud.)

I think I'd be kinda weirded out if my mum had bought me condoms when I was 15. But probably more weirded out if she'd bought me a gimp mask and handcuffs too. Sorry, my brains all crazy today, just throwing shit out.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is a "gimp mask"?

Never seen Pulp Fiction or been in a specialist sex shop then A gimp mask is a kind of leather mask that fits over the entire head, they generally have small eye holes and a zip where the mouth is. They're used by subs, and usually accompanied by a leash. I'd post a pic but I'm at work so I don't wanna go trawling through internet sites looking for one

At the same time? Sounds dangerous.

Don´t you see the difference between condomes and sex toys?? Condomes are something that´ll protect him if he choses to have sex. I will not be able to stop him when he decides to. I mean how many of you asked your mom for permission before having sex the first time?
All I can do is giving him enough information about what he can do to protect himself from HIV and other sexually transfered diseases. (and of course prevent him from putting a bun in the oven ) That´s my responsibility as a mom. Just as I´ve helped him out with crossing the street when he was tiny and watching out on the internet when he started out in chatforums.
All the kids in his age get free condomes anyway when they visit the youth clinic in our town. And they go there with their biology class as a part of education.
I´m pretty used to talk about things like this with kids since I teach biology (for slightly younger children)
And concearning my son, I´m not worried about him running on his 15 th birthday to have sex. He´ll take his moped and enjoy driving it. That´s his only passion for the moment.
And to finish this speach just to make things clear where I stand: I´m strongly against porn of any kind. I believe it´s a disgrace and a humiliation for all those women (and men). It also gives our teenagers the wrong image of what sex is.

Don't condoms [Note the lack of an "e". Sorry!] have a use by date on them, as the substances they coat them with degrade the plastic? So wouldn't buying him condoms be a bit of a waste of money?

Wouldn't that depend on how long he was planning to wait before taking advantage of his new right?

Not sure if it would be a good or bad thing to point that out to the lad though.

Good point!
But this pack will be sort of a gag! I´m sure he knows about best before dates anyway. As I wrote mopeds are his first priority, girls aren´t interesting enough comapred to engines!
And for the waste of money, it´s not so expensive we´ll go bankrupt or anything.

About the spelling, thanks. I don´t check spelling when I have important things to write.
Btw you and Jaz (the spelling nazis of this forum) Is there some form of romance going on....

Look how I changed the direction of this thread away from my son´s future lovelife...

Errr...yeah. I was kinda joking. I don't really think you'll be wrapping up butt plugs or anything for Christmas.

And I think making sure your son is safe against STDs etc is a good plan, although if you don't want him running off and having sex then it might give him mixed messages.

As for the porn, I have to disagree with you. Some porn indeed does exploit women (and men), for example sick stuff like bestiality. But porn in general is not exploitative of its stars, who often enjoy their work and the 'stardom' it brings them. Hey, it's the career they chose, and women are often in empowering positions in these films anyway. If you hear what they have to say, a lot of male and female porn stars are proud of their work and can be very nice, normal, and even intelligent people. As for having a bad effect on teenagers, I think thats a load of bull, just like 'violent movies and games make kids violent too'. If any teenager looks at porn and thinks 'Hey, that must be how the real world works!' then I pity them, and they're quickly gonna work out they're wrong!

It would have changed soon anyway. This thread's been a bit like that all along.

So anyway. This great secret romance. Do you really think there's something to those rumours?

Robert says "No" and Jaz says nothing, but speculation remains rampant.

... working out plans to kill these rumours.

It's too late. They're on the internet so they must be true.

I understand that. I just wanted to answer your post and got carried away.

I don´t just hand him condoms and that´s it. I tell him all about waiting for the right one and the importancy of being mature enough for it.

I rememebr one year I and a male co-worker divided our 13 year old students into a girl and a boy group to have the most awaited biology class of the year. Afterwards we compared the discussion among the boys compared to the girls´discussion. That was a great difference. The girls talked a lot about the romance and having a baby. The boys who apparently had sneeked a peek at porn movies on cable TV talked a lot about...well you can imagine. With a frown we realised that these two groups eventually were going to meet in the future.

Well, being the matchmaker that I am, I feel something in the air...

EDIT: But if they deny. I´m not going to insist.
