So the college I'm going to provides all the students with a laptop. I'd like the input of the community here, because you have to choose what kind of laptop you want. The trouble is, I'm not sure what the alternative to a Mac is called. Should I just call all non-Mac laptops "PCs"?

I'd call it a 'Windows PC', so that they don't fob you off with some Linux rubbish .

Why not? They're good computers, and unlike most Windows laptops, they don't have so much crap pre-installed. And there's always Boot Camp if you need to play games.

I'll think about it a bit, but I really can't see myself with a Mac. I just can't.

Yeah, but it's the lesser of two evils. Apple may have a dumb marketing campaign, but it's nowhere near as icky as anything Microsoft.

I was kind of joking (I know plenty of people with Macs who are very happy).

Funny thing is I run my Windows on Linux. And the only reason I'm doing that is because i cannot for the life of me fogure out how to config my EVDO internet connection in Linux.

Sure, I came out here
to make my name. Wanted my pool, my does of fame, wanted my parking space at Warners'. But after a year a one-room hell, a Murphy bed, a rancid smell, wallpaper peeling at the corners. Sunset Boulevard, twisting boulevard, secretive and rich, a little scary. Sunset Boulevard, tempting boulevard, waiting there to swallow the unwary. |
