In American movies and TV, I obviously meant. No real numbers start with 555. I'll apologise for the grammar (and I already have), but I believe the content was clear enough.

I think all phone numbers used in TV shows should go directly to premium rate lines. Anyone idiotic enough to phone them deserves to be parted from their money.
