Or maybe dolphins, dolphins are smart too. A genetically engineered miniature dolphin, with a brush attachment for its bottle nose, could live in the lavatory bowl.

I vote for a swam of nanobots with brushes attached. While we're at it, we can replace bees with them too, that way when all the bees go kaput we won't be up the creek without a paddle.
