Do you mean to ask why is she using them properly? I don't think they get used enough. Whenever you are reading a sentence and you pause, there should be a comma. Period.

I read too many posts on this forum that use little to no punctuation and it's awful reading. I just skip over many of those.

I think Giligan was referring to this:

...which makes more grammatical sense as either...

Good point about people not using punctuation at all, though. That annoys me to no end.

And what if one of those posts contains spam, trollish, or inappropriate content? Looking the other way indeed.

Thank you, Squinky. I did mean Jat's post, as it were.

The problem is, you Americans garble your speech at such an alarming rate, that you don't even pronounce half the letters in words. In Britain we believe in slow, clear speech, with appropriate pauses, and proper enunciation.

You just don't drink enough coffee, and thus say words as you think of them.

And if you pronounce all the letters in a word, then why does the British accent exclude the "r" sounds in such words as include that respective member of the alphabet?

If you ever met me, you wouldn't say that.

I didn't mean you my dear, even though you did mistake me for a woman. (Is it the sexy Deborah Harry avatar?)

I was referring to he who has a distaste for commas, and knows not how to spell "unnecessary."

Bah. I know a lot of Americans who articulate clearly and a lot of Brits who don't. Stereotypes don't really help here. Except when it comes to Canadians, who always articulate clearly and are also overly polite, to boot.

On a completely unrelated note, my friend showed me this picture just now, and it really articulates how I feel about giving change to beggars:

That looks like something by Banksy, London's enigmatic graffiti artist, who famously placed doctored copies of Paris Hilton's album, changing song titles to "Why Am I Famous?" and "What Have I Ever Done?", in HMV, which apparently led to no complaints from people who bought them.

A copper.
How do ya like that boys, a copper.
And we went for it, I went for it
Treated him like a kid brother
And I was gonna split fifty-fifty with a copper.
They were there waitin' to pin a medal on him
Yeah, that's it, a nice gold medal for the copper
Only maybe he's gonna get it sooner than he thinks!

Bees are attracted to my hair-care products. What should I do?

Tease your hair into a beehive, obviously.

We call them full stops over here. You should make your mind up though. What are you using, commas or periods?

And there's another one. Masterful use of a few words where others would use many.

If you read between the lines of Rob's postings, you can really sense the pain.
