Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down)and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

Coming to bookshops this autumn (or fall in America)

Where VAT?

An in-depth and often amusing history of the application of Value Added Tax and the different approaches adopted around the world.

Et Die Hard.

An unauthorised autobiography of Bruce Willis with particularly close examination of his action hero credentials and why they've prevented him getting more cerebral roles such as Brutus in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

Pre-order yours today!

Did anyone see the TV version of Inspector Lacey last night?
I heard there was a collosal plot twist.

Indeed there was. It turned out that
Spoiler:
The maid and the undercook were secret lesbian lovers. The creepy looking guy hanging out in the woods was actually the Earl's illegitimate son and the Earl's death genuinely was a bizarre accident (with Darwin Award worthy overtones) and not a murder at all. Oh, and the blow on the head when the second under butler hit Inspector Lacey with a Le Creuset frying pan, having mistaken him for a gloamglozer (the inevitable result of reading too much of the Edge Chronicles last thing at night) regressed the Inspector's language skills to a point where he could only repeat three words over and over.

I couldn't quite believe it myself.

Quit E

The ten step program to getting off those party drugs. Invaluable advice for the modern age.

Mitred Death

Inspector Lacey's toughest case yet. The bishop at Christchurch, Oxford has been done in with his own headgear and the pressure is is mounting on all sides to find the killer as the Inspector is brought face-to-face with a dark secret from his own past.
