Default The "Out Yourself" Thread

I'd say I normally have at least semi-decent taste in movies (although I would say that ), but I'm ready to admit to the world that I absolutely love Cliffhanger. I just can't help it. I can't quite put my finger on what it is - perhaps John Lithgow's subtle characterisation of the villain, or maybe Sly Stallone's expert delivery of punchy dialogue ("That clip's not gonna hold!") - but no matter how many times I watch it, it never seems to get tired. Good times. Good times.

Ah,... feels good to get that off my chest.

So, people.. how about posting things you can't get enough of, but that you've always been reluctant to admit to publicly. Movies, songs, TV shows, foods, cheesy tourist destinations,...

Don't leave me hanging here...

er, sorry about that
self

I seem to be the only person in the world prepared to praise Hannibal, and at one point I was an avid watcher of the dire remake of TV soap Crossroads.

I had fun playing Red Faction.

2 and 7 are sins of mine, too.

But 10... Starship Troopers is a good movie, in my opinion, and not just a movie I liked.

The novel and concept are great, underlying critic of fascism, plus Michael Ironside, who I really like, plays an excellent role in this film. Cheesy teen love story, cringe worthy acting, and its crudeness and sillyness earns it number 10.

There was a remake? I vaguely remember the original being on TV when I lived in the UK about 15 years ago (at least I assume it was the original). I'm a little surprised that someone thought it worth resuscitating. Obviously it had an audience though .

But it's supposed to be cheesy and silly, isn't it?

I have a CD of The Carpenters Greatest Hits. My mom listened to them when I was a kid and I have a soft spot for them.

What embarassing secret can I possibly tell that I haven't told a dozen times before? Okay, here goes:
I have an "ABBA's Greatest Hits" CD that I listen to with some regularity.
I love old Chrysler products, especially those produced between 1960 and 1973. Not just Hemis...all of them, from the plainest Plymouth Valiant to the most extravagant Chrysler Imperial. I'm no "johnny-come-lately" with this fascination, either. I grew up with these cars, and loved them even when they were considered hopelessly uncool.

ABBA is a great band. Nothing to be ashamed of!

Right?

I have to admit to having a thing for cheesy kids' shows. Like Power Rangers, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, Teddy Ruxpin, all the old Nickelodeon live-action series like Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Pete & Pete, stuff like that.

(I also like the old PBS kids' shows like Mathnet, Ghostwriter, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, etc., but IMHO those actually *were* good.)

Peace & Luv, Liz

Ah! Me too. I have a bunch of Care Bear DVD's that I bought for all the kids I babysat in high school (well they weren't in high school, I was...). I don't watch them anymore, but I did then.

I don't do anything that I have a problem admitting. There's gotta be something.. let me think about it.

Shakira is nothing to be ashamed of.

But maybe my Sting obsession is?

They resuscitated it twice. Really badly. The first time they made it way too serious, and nobody watched it. Then they made it really cheesy, turning the hotel's logo into a big heart and putting lots and LOTS of illicit affairs and really unlikely plotlines in. And then they cancelled it with an "and it was all a dream" scene ...

Same here... As long as you didn't enjoy the sequel's PC version you're on the safe side of sane...

I'm a huge fan of Spongebob Squarepants. And I have no younger sibliings, children, or cousins, so I have no excuse for watching it.
