Lena, at least you have your trip out into the beautiful archipelago to look forward to!

The really upsetting thing about this thread is that these are "views outside your window", and Simpson Yellow isn't even cheating! Conclusion: I want a better window.

Yes, that's true, but I always have an urge to go see new places, preferably abroad.
But hopefully we'll be able to launch our cute little boat on Saturday and also go for a short trip just to make sure everythings works. Might even take some pics.

That bedroom window view is amazing!

Currently, a lot of emergency vehicles attending an arson in the pallet yard opposite my house.

Normally, a road and the big concrete wall to the pallet yard.

How's the view now, step? Charred pallets?

Hehe

Yeah, we certainly scored with this place. With any luck, it'll be the end of the year before we're forced to move out. I'm looking forward to hitting the middle of Winter in a month or two - apparently those peaks actually get a bit of snow (not the kind of thing I'm used to seeing in Australian cities).

Love those photos, Huz. Where were they taken?

The ones on this page? They were taken last August from a ferry steaming through the Stockholm archipelago (on the way to Finland). Lena shouldn't complain!

I'm stunned by the beauty of the Scottish highlands and coastlands. And the British pubs are the cosiest places to realx and have a pint.

No, sadly it's the boring concrete wall to the pallet yard. Just without the emergency vehicles parked in front of it and the smoke rising from behind (you couldn't even see the flames from where I live and apparently they didn't manage to put the fire out until about 4 and a half hours after I posted)

I'll see if I can find a picture of my back garden to post. That's quite pleasant in it's fairly small way.

Yep, that's exactly what I've always found.

It's very interesting and quite instructive to make an effort to see familiar environments through the eyes of a tourist. I grew up near one of England's most heavily touristed cities, never really giving a second thought to what brought the tourists there. After travelling around bits of Europe, I returned and finally started paying attention to what the Japanese tourists were standing around gawping at. While I still wouldn't bother trailing up from London to see the place if I were them, it's given me a new appreciation for it and its heritage, at least.

It's not that easy though. You really have to decide to look around you with fresh eyes so to say. Our town is pretty old and has a looping stream running through it. It has an old castle/ruin and a small harbour by a narrow bay of the Baltic sea. Quite beautiful! The thing is, I want to see new places and experience other cultures. But I can't always get what I want, can I?

This my back garden during the snow earlier this year (though it could have been much more recently with the weather we've been having) It may be small but it's a little haven.

Those few times I've visited England and Scotland (counting to....three) I've noticed and loved the small gardens in front of the houses. The climate allows all kinds of plants and the Brits sure know how to make beautiful arrangements.
