Excellent, we want more pics, though! It does look gorgeous! Great you got a reasonable housing arrangement! And with a good view! How is your partner faring with her new job? Is she enjoying it as much as you are? Your dog seems at home and contented.

Have you been looking seriously into coming to Australia for study? Is that why you know so much about Canberra? Or is it just because you're Jaz, Queen of miscellaneous knowledge and facts? Quote:

Yes, I have really considered going to Australia for study. But that's not where I got the knowledge of Canberra from. No, most of it I got from reading In a Sunburned Country (Down Under for the UK) by Bill Bryson. It's a travel report. That's also where I heard about Harold Holt and his mysterious disappearance from. It's not just me that wishes to go to Australia. My parents, and my eldest sister all dream of going to Australia. Also, the reaction of my sister when I go to Australia before she does, would be priceless (actually she said she'd just take my presence there as an excuse to visit me there. After all, you have to visit your little sister at the place she studies, don't you? My mother and I visited her at her place of study too, after all. ). I guess I know so much simply because I remember a lot. I don't say my memory is perfect, but I certainly seem to remember a lot more details and random trivia without trying (this is the key. I don't *try* to remember them. The information just sticks in my brain, and re-surfaces if something triggers the memory. Often I still remember where I learned that information from, too.) than other people. But don't worry, I still manage to forget about things (usually appointments of any kind). -

Ah, Bill Bryson's Down Under. I should probably read that one day. Might learn a thing or two about this place.
I hope your plans come together. It's a great place and I'm sure you'd love it. If/when it looks like becoming reality, be sure to let me know if you need any snooping around done, or if you want any info on anything here - I'd be more than happy to help out. |

Last weekend I went on a trip to Leavenworth, which is about two hours away from my house in Woodinville. It's not the view that's out my window, but it's similar in some ways.
These were from around Duvall and Monroe, small farm towns. We made a stop at a spot where the river was overflowing from all the snow melt. This is from around Steven's Pass. I think the road is at about 4,000 ft elevation. We're finally in Leavenworth, and we stop at a bakery that had a couple horses next to it. Here's the downtown area. It's been converted a Bavarian style town to attract tourists. These are the houses where everyone lives. It's a quiet place surrounded by mountains. |

I don't know if I've said this already, but Simpson Yellow: SO JEALOUS.
Washington looks absolutely beautiful. I love the look of the town, but it's disappointing that it's only like that to attract tourists. I bet it works a treat though - it reminds me of the French Alps. |

Gorgeous pics, Spider. Brings back my own memories of living in the Northwest Coast, in Oregon, just 3 hours away from Mount Hood and, ah!, Crater Lake, where I had the most beautiful solitary bike ride of my life. *sigh*
