Default Who will win AL East?

The hunt for the playoff spot has never been this tight! So, which team do you think will win AL East? Red Sox or Yankees?

Sox because I hate NY, and I had some horizontal fun with a girl from Boston in Las Vegas earlier this year. :-P Are those good reasons or...?

Hey! At least your reason seems sensible. I'd started a thread that I don't really care, since the Los Angeles/Anaheim Angels are already in the playoffs!

Ok, this is going to be blasphemy (and I'm hoping my bf never reads this) but for purely selfish reasons I hope that the Red Sox don't win. If they do, they'll be playing during our wedding, and I'd imagine all of his family will be too busy checking their text messages to see score updates to dance!

Okay.....I'm only kidding sweetie, if you ever read this! Hope I'm not jinxing anything.

So it's actually a wedding singer contest between awesome guys with red socks and a band of singers called Yankee Doodle Dandies? I'm lost. So lost now.

I want the Sox to win, of course, but after last year anything that happens is going to be pretty anti-climactic.

(pats SadSam sympathetically)

As a native Massachusite, I am genetically obligated to cheer for the Red Sox. There are some strange folk in MA who go against their genetic code and cheer for the Yankees, but the rest of us ignore them.

That's who I want to win, anyway. The cynical part of me is convinced that the universe shall soon recover from its bout of abnormality, the Red Sox will lose, and the Yankees fans will spend the next year gloating at us yet again.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Definitely. I'm not a rabid baseball fan, but last year was my second year in the Boston area and after the crushing defeat of the year before, their championship year was just crazy, amazing.

We were watching the final Yankees/Red Sox series game at a friend's house, and when they won you could hear everyone in the houses around us screaming with sheer joy. And when we drove home (it was pretty late, past midnight, I think) people were coming out of their houses to celebrate. We saw whole families outside celebrating, cars were honking like crazy, even women with babies in strollers were outside that late. A very surreal and exciting experience, for sure.

I bet the total opposite happened the year before, when Aaron Boone hit the ball out of the park.

I agree! Haa~!

Anyway, who would you rather the White Sox faced in ALDS?
CLE? or BOS?

NYY just won AL East. Just as what I'd hoped... cos that's the only team that LAA is comfortable in facing down the stretch!

I am a Boston Red sox Fan So I want Boston Red sox to be in the AL east Playoff spot. I think it will be Boston Red sox vs Chigco White Sox in the final this year or New Yorks But I hope Boston Reds sox will do it again.

I "want" the red sox to win - but if I were betting on the outcome - would pick the Yankees as the team I think will win [which sux]

Definitely rooting for the sox - regardless

Not much of a Red Sox fan (who cares if their crap team got lucky last year?), but Yankees aren't much better. No, I don't think they "cheat" with such a monster lineup (no cap. break, no cheat), it's how they play so halfheartedly. Even with their huge salaries that they don't diserve.
