Default the Ages of Ilathid

Just wanted to share this:
Quote:
Hello all members. I'm leading a new game project, a MYST fan-game.

The Ages of Ilathid is a new MYST fan-game project in the works. It will use very high quality graphics on a slideshow style, will feature 7 large Ages and will be downloadable from the internet, for free. Windows, Mac and Linux versions are on the works.

Here's our website

And here are our boards

Please visit our site and, if possible, help our project. Everyone is invited to join! I'm Paulo Monteiro in the Ilathid board.

Note: This project is being run by volunteers. That means nobody will be paid, except with the delight of seeing dreams and work coming true.

Oh, and yeah.... We do have wallpapers and more here, if you're interested.

We still got open positions... if anyone wants to help us, just give us a call. look at Contact for more info.

Thanks for reading,

Paulo Monteiro.

Alpha testing (game engine testing) has started. we need testers on all platforms (both Windows, Linux & Mac OS X). If you're interested apply at the recruitment forum or mail us at [email protected].

Thanks a lot,

Very cool. So glad there will be a Mac version. I have some friends that are going to be very excited I think.

I think it was neat that Cyan actually wrote a "contract" on their feelings on a fan game, which is on your Legal page. It seems that they are gonna be smart enough to know that encouraging fandom only helps their (oh god I hate this term) “brand”. I think their (Cyan’s) requests where very reasonable.

What engine are you using to make the game?

Please let it be in Third-Person Format. I like seeing the character that you can control, rather than just looking through his/her eyes.

This is just my person opinion, so please don't be angry about it. Anyway, it's nice to know that there is a new Myst-Type game being made.

Sorry, but Ilathid uses the first person view, just like Myst, Riven or Exile.

a New Year wallpaper has just been added to our gallery.

We are dramatically looking for 3D modelers :
- Basic English language knowledge (reading/writing), it's an international project.
- preferentially on PC and 3ds Max.
- able to model simple objects wich will be used to "fill" the environnements (so, no need to be a "polygon God").
- able to go check the game board at least 2/3 times a week

Thanks for your attention.

Spanish version of the Ilathid Website is online.

A German version is in work... and we'll add a few goodies in the next days.

Sad news :
Quote:
Hello,

As you might know, our fan-produced game, The Ages of Ilathid, has been going on for more than a year. We have made a new trailer and were going to add a few more upgrades to the site (www.agesofilathid.com), but they have vanished soon after being uploaded. However, I just got a message in my inbox:

"One cannot find one's treasures if one doesn't know his tale.
Revealing the unseen sources, the unseen roots of the story...
The old ones once kept them safe in the City.
Who were they, those of importance?
Where did they work at keeping their treasures?
The ancient and lost books and file folders?
No one shall know.
Yet only in knowing one's past one can go forward to his future..."

We lost access to the server and haven't been able to find the missing goodies, nor the backups, and we've been looking for them for some time... Any ideas? If you have any and/or manage to find any of those missing, please let us know by posting here. i've also posted this to our main board (which thankfully is on another server - http://j.ronvel.free.fr/sites/board/index.php

Thanks a lot,

-Paulo Monteiro, The Ages of Ilathid project leader
This guy is clearly playing with us, seeding clues to puzzle peoples...
We need to recover website access (this will be done at a time or another), but our assets too!

If some of you have any idea, please help us, TIA.

Update : with the help of some great UO Members, we recovered almost all our assets. A few ones are still missing, but the end seems to be very near.

We opened a Website Hack Summary thread at our boards.

Very Good News!!!

UO Peoples have cracked the last riddles and the Hacker has reset our login/password to the website!

This way, we'll be able to re-order the website to show you soon our recent goodies.

Things have gone better and faster than we feared and we finally recovered everything, we finally only lost 10 days (wich is small compared to more than 1 year developpement).

Ist there anyone interested in this game? I mean grover here has posted...what, 9 times in a row with no reply?

Im not a big fan of myst but those renders look great..

Just wondering, is the game going to have a main character? I know its first person but there going to be a main character that you controll and see through his eyes or is it going to be the same as myst in the way that "your the main character"

I'm not allowed to tell much, but i can tell that the player will impersonate a main character.

I have no idea how to get the game to run. I've installed Python, and then PyGame. Both "DniChamberAge.pyc" and "Ilathid.pyc" (which is the correct file to run?) crash with a "RunTimeError: Bad magic number in .pyc file"-message.

aknowledged..
I'll give you a reply ASAP (cause i'm not programmer...)

EDIT : according to the programmers, you need to use Python 2.3 and Pygame 1.6 together, and no other version.
Hope it'll help.
