Default An early graphics sample by yours truly

I've been playing with Paintshop 7, trying to see how well I'd fare with creating adventure-game backgrounds for an eventual project I'd wanna work on. This is one of the earliest pictures I had made. It's the only one I bothered to put up on my "website." Oppinions? Suggestions?

Default Pretty good

Pretty good for an initial try. I like the colors mostly, but the shapes seem a bit "blocky" and rough in spots.

I could swear you posted this earlier in a different thread, but I digress.

The room looks fine, but the lighting effects could be a lot more subtle... Trying adding layers at different opacities for interesting effects.

I did, in Just Adventure forums. I signed up there for the express purpose of posting this picture, as my account here wasn't working at the time...

The lighting is as dramatic because I didn't use layers, but rather used the illumination effect.

In the future, I think I will try out a comic-book look, where I shade and texture everything w/ ink before scanning & coloring it (a style I want to practice...). This picture was done entirely on the computer.

Yeah, scanning it is a decent technique. I don't have a scanner and can't draw that well, despite going to an art school-- I prefer writing, level designing, and sound/video editing.
