It seemed a good idea at the time. And it wasn't such a bad one in restrospect.

How is it an absurd wish? I mean, isn't that exactly what AGS features?

This thread keeps just getting better and better. [I said something very mean, but removed it. I'm a good person.]

I must admit that the first post is rather on the optimistic side. If you want to take it that way.

I want to be able to have custom sound/voices , cursor , backgrounds etc.
Then I'm afraid that AGS is the easiest one to learn. You can develop a game without no programming at all, and the sprites can be replaced. It's also free. If you want to make a professional game, that will take more workers than you. Graphic artists, musicians, spell checker.. etc..

Good luck!

Nice, just reading Kings post, and knowing from a previous thread that he is also doppleganger I'm glad I chose a different Adventure website as my main for game info and forums. As for the baptism by fire remark it seems more like a lets get rid of anyone new from the forums baptism to me.

To the original poster good luck with finding a engine you like, its always nice to know that people are interested in making more adventure games.

You see what you've accomplished Kingz, you've managed to turn people away from this website.

How do you sleep at night?!

I'd love to learn how to make an adventure game, but right now I don't see how I could fit it in. Still, just for future reference, is there any on-line resource that keeps sprite sheets of various adventure game characters?

Specifically, I'd be interested om getting my hands on Monkey Island 1 & 2, Simon 1 & 2, Indy:FoA, Loom, Beneath a Steel Sky, and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

While not exactly the same, the sprites used in all those games shared a look I rather liked, as well as a few interesting character movements that would be hard to replicate without reference. So if any sprite sheets did exist, I'd at least like a gander at them.

I was looking for some myself the other day, and I couldn't find anything more than individual sprites from MI2. No animations, just one-sprite shots of Guybrush facing various directions and hanging from the rope near the end of the game.

I know there's a program for lifting sprites from Lucasarts games (Scumm Revisited), as well as other items. Even used it once, but its awkward and it isn't like the sprites are in one place. If you're interested, trying looking here...
