A small preview of my adventure game
Hi,
Well, as some of you might know, Im currently developing an adventure game on my own and wanted to share a small preview of what im making. I have plenty more done, but those are quite compromising at the moment. This is a cropped preview of a larger scene of the game. Here are a couple of scenes in the "wilderness" Ill be posting more later. .-Glen |

Wow, these look wonderful. The first picture especially just bursted with color. Hmm, any clue as to what the plot is about?

Thank you
Well, the plot is something along these lines: "An odd couple find themselves in a race to amend a huge mistake after wrongly releasing terrible beings from their captivity." Quote:
MORE IMAGES: This is a tiny part of the main scene in three different stages during the adventure. |

Definitely some of the best indie game artwork I've ever seen.

This is another scene, it’s a restroom. I’ve spent time on the GUI, items and interactivity, I also spent some time on a new dialog system, so I don’t have much to safely show than this scene for now. The great news is that the game is taking shape (I should do a progress List)

Well done! Nice to see some bright colors for once. Sometimes I thing AG are very dark, sometimes so dark you miss things.
Or maybe it's my own fault for playing games like Dark Fall, Dark Mirror and Scratches |

Impressive artwork! If you don't mind, what do you use to build your drawings with?
Keep us posted when this game is available! |

heribertovalle: Thank you
Mohlin: Thank you, yeah, I think the bright colors where used mostly on the old lucas arts games. reneuend: Thank you. Im using Maya for the 3D graphics and characters, photoshop and manga studio for the GUI and items. (I was thinking on using illustrator for the GUI and items but went in a more comic book style instead so i used Manga Studio for the basic drawings then painted in photoshop.) PS: Teaser time. Well, i just wanted to post a part of one of the characters i made for this game. |

These environments are so awesome! I really feel like playing the game.
Two bits of critism though: The two forest locations, while detailed, are very straightforward. It seems as if you've made a rather empty forest filled with mazy, straight roads. Also, because you're doing this on your own, I wonder if these ambitious environments wont backfire on you when you populate them with dynamic objects that can't keep up this same quality. If you do pull it off, I'll be having my jaw on the floor and my tongue on the keyboard. |

on Q1: What do you mean about the forest? (can you specify a bit more just in case i didnt think about things that could cause boredom?) My aim with the forest is to do something similar to the labyrinth in monkey island where you need to follow instructions in order to reach a place you woudnt know about unless someone gave you a map or directions (think about the dark forest or the "hell cave?" in MI1 or the skeleton's song or the parrot in MI2 for example). So far the forest i made have an animated loop of butterflies flying around. (might need to create more animations though) on Q2: Dont worry, im trying my best to make the game as seamless as possible. The animations might not be pixar quality, but i hope they dont disturb or scare players away ^^ (lol) What im really worried about are the voice overs, i dont want the game to play without voices. |
