Default Fairy Tale adventure game -- HELP!

I'm currently writing a point and click adventure game on various fairy tales ala Shrek. I have in mind that the villain behind the story is Mother Goose as she seeks out revenge on the King, and so places a curse on the whole land.

The thing that I haven't managed to come up with is this - what is the reason/motive behind all of this for Mother Goose vowing revenge on the King?

Can anyone give me some ideas to this please?

The zanier the idea, the better!

You might want to give the game Once Upon a Crime a try to see a similar theme.

Perhaps father goose has been kidnapped?

If you're going for a modernised Shrek-esque spin, perhaps it could be a copyright quarrel? Mother Goose has written all these stories, but the king claims it's public domain, or claims credit for it, or something?

From looking at wikipedia, Mother Goose is a bit of a non-character - is this why you chose her?

Here's an idea, try coming up with something original instead?

You could play to modern social paranoia and have it turn out at the end that mother goose has been brain washed by the mysterious Bisney Corporation whose goal is to remove the darker moral aspects of traditional fairy tales and homogenize them turning them into advertising tools. Perhaps on your journey you get a clue as more and more adverts for products begin to appear the closer you get to the end.

Hey Tidus, is there a wicked witch or wizard in your game. Maybe they have some beef with the King and put a spell on Mother Goose to do their dirty work for them while they sit in the shadows watching and waiting for the outcome. Good luck with it. Hope you find what you are looking for.
