Default 5 Days a Stranger - Really interesting!

http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/5days/

A friend of mine over on my own forums at FredtheMonkey.com made me aware of a game called 5 Days a Stranger. It's an underground game (I guess? I'm still figuring out what underground means ) and I just wanted to post a link to share with the folks around here. I found it (so far) an awesome game. I usually don't like horror-style adventure games (which I'd classify this as) but man is the story and writing good. I would have probably stopped after the first gory scene but I can't, I have to know what happens next! It's a very old style, but classic gameplay. So go check it out, it's free.

I'm on Day 3, and so far I've only been frustrated by one pixel hunt. Otherwise no complaints.

The official AGs meaning of "underground" (as seen in the game pages for underground games) is "an independently created freeware game." Whether that's any clearer is for you to decide...

And I think quite a few people around there know about that game, as we did a 5DAS community playthrough some time a year and a half ago. (has it really been that long? )

(When is the next playthrough, by the way? Just because I was a terrible chairman for the Faust playthrough doesn't mean there shouldn't be another one at some point.)

We also reviewed it, here: http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,283

although that's hard to find as I see our new Games list doesn't have a numerical page!

Oh okay, cool. I just got here, so that's why I didn't know.

This community playthrough thing sounds very interesting. I'd probably try and participate if someone sets up another one.

No worries. It's a good game and not everyone in the forums will have heard of it (since many don't venture out into the main site where the review lives. )

Probably not up for 5DAS again so soon but I'd be willing to give another one a go. We need to find a game with easily recognised sections so everyone can play a bit and then discuss it together. The days format of 5DAS made for handy breaks. I suppose we could always do the sequel 7 days a Sceptic. Anyone else up for that?

I'd recommend trying out Yahtzee's other games by the way. Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment apparently receives little attention but is a nice game. Lots of stuff to unlock on replays as well.

How about just playing a short one-room game?

Could work. Do you have a particular game in mind?

I just started playing this game again after a few years, right from the beginning, though I'm very nervous as I found this game hard to take. (I'm a wimp about this stuff, see my forum topic on creepy adventures.)

The game was rather well done though, so I hope you find it fun.

I'd certainly be up for that, it would be helpful as I got so far and I had to stop because a certain bit (a) freaked me out completely and (b) killed me. lol

Spoiler:
Even after I escaped a certain room and certain psychopathic possessed crewmate, I thought I was safe, but oh no, I got killed. Wonderful. Damn thing chases you and you dont even know where he is or that he.. well she possessed by he is chasing you D;
