"When We Were Kids" (cute widdle Flash game)
(copy-pasted from my blag)
Today, my captive audience, you are all in for a real treat, for I have finished my first-ever one room game using the Lassie engine! It’s called “When We Were Kids”, and you play a little girl who’s just gotten her beloved handheld gaming system stolen by the school bully. It’s also my first real attempt at creating an adventure game puzzle with multiple solutions. And it’s completely playable from within your web browser. So, check it out already. It’ll only take a few minutes of your precious time, after all.

So, anyway. I found two ways to reach the end: Spoiler: Yet, after starting anew to try out yet another approach (like talking Morgan out of it, if that even works**), he's just standin' there after the dialogue in the beginning, no handheld in his hands, nothing*. Upon trying to talk to him, I get the Spoiler:greeting lines. Very Squink-ish, might I say. The lines, not the bug! Jeeeeeeez. Full game, Vista patch and a soundtrack next? * Aaaah, this seems to occur if you bypass the short opening sequence by frantic left-clicking. Kinda like I did. ** Spoiler:

Neat! You should post about this in the Lassie forums.
The engine does still have some bugs that are being tweaked.

Thanks for the nice feedback, guys! Like John said, there are still a few bugs in the engine, but I managed to make do with what I could for now.
No sound this time. I had a little tune I was going to use, but couldn't get looping background music to work properly. Hence, the game is silent. Just did.

Don't seem to be able to pick up anything. Is there some way of changing cursors? The old standby of right-clicking just calls up the Flash control menu.

Hold the mouse button down and a menu will pop up after a while.

I got a third ending. Spoiler: Is three the lot or should we all keep replaying? I might have to do that anyway to check out all the dialogue. I especially liked the line. Quote:

There's just one more, and it's pretty simple to find, particularly if you exhaust all the dialogue lines.

How do you combine inventory items?

Click on an inventory item (cursor should switch to that item) and then click it on the inventory item you want to combine it with.

Deirdra Kiai is an entity who lives tied up inside the great recesses of my head. She writes games and AG reviews and does all my homework for me.
