Default The Return To Monkey Island... again!!

hi folks, you might wonder what this is? well... "The Return To Monkey Island... again!!" is the working title for my newest game project. it is as the title suggest a Monkey Island fan game, my goal is to make a game that is true to the orginal monkey island games when it comes to story, humor and feel, I will make the game in a retro style.

Technical stuff:
* The game engine is writhen in c++.
* it uses SDL for the graphics and openal for the sound.

the game will (when finished) be released as freeware (or as gpl) for win,linux and mac.

Todo list:
* small fixes.
* npc dialog script system
* save/load game function

Story:
I don't feel like talking about the story yet (I want it to be a suprise), but the story begins after the story of Escap from monkey island, and it will be multiple endings/paths to take in the game.

ok... now you are probably bored to death so, here you have som screenshots to look at (click on the thumbnails to see a bigger picture):

the main mode:

hmmm what is this... Lets take a look:

This might look familiar:

HEY MR... What do you have in your pants?

some other places to go:

I will upload a video of the game in action, when I have the time.
soo what do ya' think and if you have suggestions please post them.

and I am sorry for my engrish, english isn't my first language.

errrr..., I'm not really sure. It doesn't really look any different to the original. Do you have permission for this game?

if they'd asked lucas arts they wouldnt have started.
that ckicken thing doesnt seem to fit in with the rest of the enviroment in my opinion, i'd say redraw all the backgrounds and character sprites in your style or redo the chicken in pixel art style.

I'm sorry but that GUI just doesn't suit the low res art.

Really looks out of place. Better not touch the original MI and S&M and make something original.

Or try to make a self-sarcastic game, which apparently you are trying to do... It just doesn't feel right. Sorry.

It's easy re-drawing stuff. This just looks ugly (resized low-res backgrounds using even filters?)

thank you for your feed back.
but I have desided to abandon this game, mostly because of the negative replays I have got (not from here, but from other sources), I will continue to develope the engine and make a orginal game instead. have also plans to continue on my 3d adventure engine (it is very early in the development).
and for the sprites and graphic in the return to monkey island...again, well what can I say, it is "programmers art" syndrome
but for future 2d games I will make sure to get hold of a sprite artist, I suck at making sprites (if someone could point me to good tutorials,resources and tools i would be very happy).

LOL! It's just strange that the answers to both questions were in post 11. It's the new 42.

Why? It was a far too ambitious project that didn't look right and it didn't really offer a new spin on the game.
