Well, I'd quite prefer if he supported his statement with reasonable justification. One's thing for sure on the Internet: there exist way too many people who seemingly have the inability to argue properly.

The timing makes this interesting, to say the least. I hope it works out for everyone, although I have to admit that even though Steve seems to support it, the idea of a fan game being produced from the same license as a commercial game, at the same time, makes me a little nervous. (It shouldn't, since I have no personal stake in either one, but I guess I'm a worrywart that way. )

In any case, I wish you guys the best of luck with your project.

this "fan game" is kinda redundant now that telltale is making the sam and max sequel..if nothin was happenin with sam n max i woulda supported it.. but now you are just getting in the way of an official game.. why take the risk of getting people confused..and putting out a fangame when a real one is on the way? the idea of the fan game is to do it because no1 else is.. you dont do it when an official game is being made simultaneously..what the hells the point?

What with the low percentage of fan games completed and the commercial Sam & Max offering on the horizon, it just seems very unlikely we'll ever be playing this fan game.

Oh, and what with my previous thread nestling on this page with over 200 posts, I assume you're not including me: "One's thing for sure on the Internet: there exist way too many people who seemingly have the inability to argue properly"

There is a difference between arguing for a long time and arguing properly. Just saying.

And a note to everyone: please don't hijack this thread to continue that discussion, especially so if you intend to make it personal.

OK OK...enough of that..though one question: Maybe someone should invent the "non-fan" game. A game specifically to go against the love of the genre.

now...lets get back to the whole Sam and Max issue...cool?

I share the thoughts that since Telltale is making a real game that the fan game may go by the wayside. Of course, some real games never get made either. At best, If its very close to done then maybe this fan game will be like an appetizer for the main course.

I suppose you also have the percentage of commcercial games actually completed? And the percentage of those completed games that are any good at all?

You seem to have a lot of statistics to back up your opinions.

As for the game at hand, I'd agree that if the commercial game turns out good there won't be anyone shouting "Thank god we have the fan game to play!" (..then again, we have no reason not to try the game, it's free for christ's sake..)

But on the other hand, we don't know that TellTale's Sam & Max will be any good.

If S.M Return is like Bone you can count on me not to buy it. And he has a point Tell Tale could come up with a massive dissapointment you never know.

AND IT IS FREE. So why do people always nock free things (like fan games) its completely free so stop complainig.

I don't see why anyone would be worried about the TellTale game taking away from the fan game. They will be different games. The hope of the developers of the fangame is that people will enjoy it, not to sell copies; it will be a free download after all. The fact that TellTale is making a Sam and Max game does detract from some of the anticipation for such a game, but if the fangame ends up being awesome, who cares? And if I'm the only one who plays it and loves it, then I really don't care if no one else downloads it. Of course, some people that made it might be a little angry...... The bottom line is that Bone: Out from Boneville was about an hour long, so I don't think our want for adventure games is going to be completely satisfied, unless Telltale's Sam and Max is going to be infinitely longer, which I doubt. I love to play well made fangames, and there are extremely few.

I think Telltale have a better chance of creating a better Sam & Max; one more worthy of your time even if there is a price tag attached.

People are willing to fork out reams of money for movies and so forth, but when it comes to BUYING *shock horror* a game; protests are raised at the price and the process of actually buying a game.

It's our duty as consumers to be buying products.

But the fan game does not have a price tag.

That's profound. Lemme also add to that statement that it's our duty as clap-monkeys to incessantly clap our cymbals.

I'm terribly sorry to bring this up..

And you protest when you have to *shock* download a free game. "Oh, jeez. It might not be of optimal quality. I'll have wasted valuable time on it, that could've been spent on buying real games, that are also crap but feel better because I paid for them."
