"Overclocked: A Story about Violence"

Jack Thompson's probably already trying to get the ESRB to rate this Adults-Only. I mean, it's ABOUT VIOLENCE!!

Yeah, but there's no sniper mode on this, so it can't be a murder simulator or trainer, training our kids to kill.

But the title has the word VIOLENCE in it!! It must be corrupting our youth! Don't contradict me, I'll sue you, I'm a lawyer!!

Okay, I'm sorry. Jack Thompson's just too easy to make fun of.

Is it? The first one looks like a brunette, and the second like a blonde, to me. Could just be the lighting though.

Looking at both next to each other now, I'm almost sure it is.

To make some more valuable input to this thread (just for a change ), I'll add that I have high hopes for this new title. I haven't played Moment of Silence, but I remember its most praised feature was the story: a unique one, different to what's dominant in games industry by tackling actual, serious issues the World is dealing with. Knowing that Martin visits these forums (and possibly others), I'd imagine House of Tales would acknowledge the feedback and try the same, or even take this strategy one step further, if the rumours about original storytelling technique are to turn out true.

Hopefully they make sure the gameplay lives up to the story, and we have a winner.

I think perhaps y'all are missing the point a bit--it's not just about one action or movement--you wouldn't say the Mona Lisa is "just sitting there smiling". It's about how the picture makes you feel, what it conjures in your mind.

So here's what I think--
At first glance, it seems that she is in duress, perhaps bound. I think most cultures would tend to automatically see this as typically females are seen as weaker (not saying it's right, just saying that's how it is.) It almost reminds me of a pose in "A Clockwork Orange" where a female is about to be violently raped. This is interesting because the game is supposedly about violence, and what is more violent than rape?

But, the clever part about it is--upon further examination--she has a gun in her hand, in the shadows. Thus, she is far from bound--she is in control of the situation, and almost seems to be in an erotic pose--maybe she gets off on the violence, and killing?

Looking at her face more closely, you can read either pain or pleasure.

For me, it's a very emotional image with an interesting visual paradox. Since it's going to be an adventure game about violence, it will hopefully be somewhat intellectual (if not, why not just make a boring action/shooter...which are normally always about violence). The dichotomy of making a game about violence in a genre, adventure, which is usaully not concerned with violence has the potential of being quite interesting, indeed--especially if the game follows with the subtle commentary that I see in this picture!

The key to this game, if this is the case, would be top-notch dramatic voiceacting and a smart, punchy script.

I've read in an interview, that the hard disk containing the final dialogue
script for TMOS had crashed. A couple of days before they went into the studio. Making games can be a stressful experience, I guess.

GTA hasn't got very good voice acting and its script is terrible. The violence is pretty uninspired too, except from a comedy standpoint (which I think was somewhat deliberate on their part). So.. no not GTA at all

No, he has a point.

Even if it's blunt and WRONG.

And bring in some appropriate music! Like, uh, Hatebreed, Marilyn Manson and Lynn Anderson.

Well, if it's really going to be an intellectual take on violence, then those guns are pushing it a bit too far. It looks somewhat cheesy that way.

By the way, my avatar is taken from a movie poster of the best film on violence I've seen. Anyone knows its title?
