Default Sam & Max 2: Wtf Happened?

When it was announced it was cancelled ages ago, I mourned and had to move on. I've not found a convincing reason why Lucasarts pulled the plug, given the huge amount of support the game had from fans. (If u get a 31,000 sig petition for a game to be made u gotta KNOW that would lead to at least 100,000 copies, then wayyy more from hype and marketing) So WTF happened really?

I think it means 'for fans'.

Unfortunately even 100K copies is low for a game of this budget.

Hmm... did Psychonauts even sell 100K copies?

Maybe we Europeans could buy it if it was out there

it's still amazing though, that lucasarts were prepared to cut they're losses on the game and let it die

There are a lot of threads on this forum about why Sam & Max was cancelled. You should be able to find them if you use the search.

I agree, it was a very spineless thing to do. The game was so close to completion; they couldn't stick with it for a few more months? What a waste.

I wouldn't describe 50% as "so close to completion".

Reports of it's percentage of completion have been greatly exaggerated.

I don't. There'd be a huge gap between 1 & 3. We'd be lost. Remember how confused we were after playing Leisure Suit Larry 3, then next thing we knew, we were dumped into LSL 5!?

That was very disorienting. I planned on playing 4 right after 3, but I lost the floppies somewhere and still haven't found them....
