House of Tales to unveil new project

First details to be revealed at Games Convention 2005

With a worldwide publishing deal anticipated soon (though not yet officially secured), German developer House of Tales plans to disclose the first details of its next adventure game at the upcoming Games Convention in Leipzig.

Known for its previous PC adventures Mystery of the Druids and The Moment of Silence, along with its mobile adventure game series, House of Tales looks to continue its tradition of making games with controversial topics and a strong narrative focus. This time around, the developer intends to be even more progressive, incorporating features like real-time physics and light/shade projections in an offering that promises "a storytelling method which has never been used in computer games until now."

Although specific information about the game (including the title) is still being kept secret, Creative Director Martin Ganteföhr enthusiastically describes the new project by saying, "There is still plenty of room for intelligent entertainment between Maniac Mansion and Memento."

Stay tuned to Adventure Gamers between August 18-21, when details of the new game become public.
Excellent news!
I´ve got high hopes for this new title.
Moment of Silence was great followup to the sucky Mysteries of the Druids.

Horray! PC Gamer U.S didn't drive them out of business!

Absolutely. I have yet to play The Moment Of Silence, though. I didn't like Mystery Of The Druids that much (read: not as in NOT AT ALL ) , but it was released during that time when Cryo and Wanadoo were flooding the market with their super crap - at least I didn't regret making *this* purchase. Does anybody know what happened with the 3D project they were working on for their former publisher CDV after MOTD was done? I remember seeing some posts on the HoT board back then (2001)...

So, how many stars are in 14% anyway?

Oh, c'mon... the main character is holding a gun and thrusting her boobs toward the sky. That deserves at least a 18%, I'd think.

Seriously though, can't wait to find out more. Story-heavy games are my favorite, and HoT has shown that that's what they're interested in delivering.

Rumor has it, that it will feature a narrative structure similar to Nolan's Memento. Sounds interesting.

Edit: I didn't notice that gun. Thanks for reminding me why.

What? Surely that's not the main character. This is an adventure game we're talking about. The main character is surely some awkward wacky-but-loveable male character named Pencilneck McGee or Flippity Drawsalot or Bumbles T. Noseglasses. No guns!! No action-packed girls!! WHAT ARE YOU POLLUTING MY GENRE WITH?

That's a cute shirt she's wearing. I like how the sleeve is coming up over her wrist and the bottom of her hand. It's a nice touch.

(Okay, we have to talk about *something* until more info's released...)

She has a concave stomach, too.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

Or Joy. What do you think she's doing in that picture?

Did you look at the source code or was that just a lucky guess?

Why would her name be Joy? The filename is "vic.jpg," that's the only reason I said that.

Never mind. We posted at the same time.

Didn't we just have an adventure game with a Vic as the main character?

In other news, that general pitch from the first post sounds excellent.

What time is it anyway at Germany? It's midday here, and I'm hallucinating. Don't know whether you're suffering from it or not.
