Thanks, funcroc.

The game gives you an inventory in which to gather objects, but Telltale stresses that Bone won't rely on contrived inventory puzzles requiring you to combine obscure objects with one another. Instead, you'll be tasked with overcoming obstacles using the items and abilities on hand in a given situation, which will presumably make you think creatively about the game's puzzles rather than turning to the nearest FAQ for the solution.
Yes! No more stupidly designed puzzles (and you guys know what that means, okay?)!!

From what we've seen, Bone isn't the flashiest PC game ever made, but what it lacks in technical prowess it seems to more than make up for with expressive artwork and charming presentation.
Right! It's the art direction that matters, with the technology helping it, not the other way around.

Oooooh, I'm so terribly excited about this game!

I keep hoping that $20 is worth it for "4-6 hours" of gameplay, though. That part always keeps nagging me.

Aww, a lovely opening sentence:

I really hope people are going to buy this game so they can keep making more. 20 dollars is a very reasonable price.

I like combining items The only thing I didnt like about Grim Fandango was I could mix items. Anyways I will deffinately support the adventure gaming industry but 4-6 hours of gameplay sounds liek it will have some really nutty puzzles to compensate.

$20 always looks like a lot to me until I convert it to approximatel £11. Guys, that's not really very much!

When I were a lad and lived in good 'ol Blighty it would have mysteriously sold for £20 there if it was $20 in the States; exchange rates are somewhat different now but would it really sell for that in the UK or would it be more like £15?

Ex-pat Andy.

P.S. I just looked at the preview and saw it will be sold be electronic distribution so I guess this question is moot for this game!

Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to buy it the instant it comes out!

At any rate, it usually takes me longer than the stated gameplay time because I like to explore the game and stuff. So I'm sure I'll get my money's worth.

I particularly like the desert screenshots. Keeping the snow away from the forests sounds like a smart choice too. I was hoping that the price would be more reasonable in terms of gameplay time to dollars though, seeing as how we'll be dishing out $20 dollars every 4 or 5 months, probably spending more than a $100 on the total Bone experience by the time we're done. That's like a full length game which is twice as expensive as half life 2, but doesn't give you as much playtime in terms of replayability (like css & deathmatch would), and doesn't look as good...Man, the gameplay in Bone better impress the hell outta me.

I don't think they should be advertising the 4-6 hours of gameplay so much. Who knows how long it'll actually take people to play? Maybe they're doing that to set expectations (in other words, this is NOT a full-length game) but it sounds very short, when in actuallity the experience may not feel short at all.

I suppose the first game will be the test - people who pay $20 for it will be able to say if it was worth the money and decide if they want to pay the same amount for the next installment.

I thought the Gamespot article was a bit misleading, though, in the part that SoccerDude quoted. I never got the impression that Telltale's going to sit around and guage player reaction before they decide if they want to make a second installment or not. My understanding is that as soon as Bone #1 is out the door, work starts on Bone #2, with the goal of getting it out early next year.

I don't look at it that way. Each of the episodes will be designed to be "full" on their own. Also, thinking of it as spending a hundred bucks on a single game is kind of silly when you consider the amount of time it's going to take for every episode to be released.

Well let's say it takes 6 hours for 20 dollars. If you do the math, it will take 15 hours for 50 dollars which is a very reasonable price for an adventure game.

20$ is a pretty standard price for indie games, regardless of how long they last. Granted, that's maybe not how people will look at the price, but it is consistent with other games.

No, I don't think it's a joke. Filmman loves everyone and just wants to thank them for posting things, welcome newcomers, and keep threads about Space Quest on topic. He's alright, I say.

I share his enthusiasm for "Bone out from bonenvillage", though.
