Default EDGE score for BS3 :O

.... 9/10 !!!

the same as Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, ICO, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Final Fantasy VII, Theme Park, Gran Turismo 2 and Broken Sword 1.

EDGE is the hardest magazine to please, they always are highly critical of sloppy mistakes (Mario Kart: Double Dash gets a 5/10 in the same issue). They are the most respect magazine out there, have a 10 year history and they've given BS3 a 9.

Only four games have ever been rated higher. Gran Turismo, Super Mario 64, Zelda: Orcania of time and some PC game

Wow! Well done to revolution! Personally I think it deserves such high scores; it's a great game and I throughly enjoyed it.

Wow, coming from Edge that's high praise indeed. I can't believe that I still haven't bought a copy of BS3 yet (although its probably due to some residual bitterness for them not giving me a job 2 years ago when I went for an interview there - and come to think of it, that doberman I saw in one of the trailers looked remarkably like one of the meshes on my showreel....)

Anyway, I'm sure it deserves such a high score.
I'll be rushing to the shops on friday to get my copy

BTW: Hi Feisar!

shame on you, Rev! You should've mentioned you were an AGer, Kaye, and then twisted Steve Ince's arm till they gave you the job

Anyway, that is GREAT. I highly respect EDGE's opinion .. they're harsh but fair. Custard, they aren't the kind of reviews where the score says it all .. you'd have to read the entire review. They'll have good reasons for their score .. my guess, without having played the game (or read the review), would be that it played precisely or almost exactly the same as its predecessor with better graphics.

Mario Kart: Double Dash ---> 5
Marked down for: Obviously Cheating AI, poor circuit design, poor sense of speed

What is "Edge" magazine? Can we get it here in the US? What bookstores possibly sell this publication?

Well, Edge is dead now. They've only got one writer left, and the rest resigned. Maybe you should look into the new US mag Polygon instead.

Now I'm really confused! If Edge is dead... then how come they reviewed Broken Sword?

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but:

Gamer's Hell score for BS3: 9.3

Quote:
There are bad adventure games, good adventure games, and great adventure games. Broken Sword 3 falls into the final category. Make no mistake - this is a game for adventure fans, not for those looking for an easy platform adventure title. The difficulty is above average, but if you do keep at it, you’ll probably enjoy the story a great deal – I know I did! The graphics, audio and gameplay is all above average. There are a few tidbits you could attack, but it’d be more or less nitpicking.

Congratulations go to Revolution Software – you’ve made what to me is an instant adventure classic.

The EDGE staff resigned within the last 2 weeks or something, so they must have been reviewing it with the same builds Evan is. They've probably got one print issue left in the pipe still?

The story that goes around is that Future Publishing wanted to make Edge more mainstream, causing all the writers and editors to resign. Well, all but one. The only one left is the recently-hired girl whose name I forgot.

I'd suspected EDGE was falling apart after the website suddenly went downhill, the forums have been offline for adges and it's half broken.

That sounds how Dutch gaming magazine 'Hoog Spel' went down. (I still cry for them at night.)

I'm still sort of confused... So does EDGE still have the same credibility it is known for if it's essentially been decimated?

(either way, cheers to Rev for two more great reviews )
