I vote Beneath a Steel Sky as well.

Laura Bow 2 doesn't seem to get as much love as it should, either...

Jazhara7 07-05-2005 07:44 AM

LOOM

The Neverhood

- :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

SamNMax 07-05-2005 07:48 AM

Yeah. Loom and Laura Bow II are also criminaly overlooked.

(buffing up my vocab)

SamNMax 07-05-2005 07:49 AM

Overrated, if you ask me.

samIamsad 07-05-2005 07:54 AM

The mazes or the game they're in? :D

Ninth 07-05-2005 07:59 AM

The game it's self.

This must be like the 138th. time I'm saying this, but Maupiti Island has to be the most criminally overlooked adventure ever.

The Dig. It's gotten a bad rap over the years (There are some people who will go out of their way to slander it), which turns most people off the game. They just don't want to play it.

It is an amazing adventure though. Very epic, in my opinion.

One of the best. It might be my choice as the most unjustly overlooked, too.

I have to go with Lucien21 on Obsidian. This was an amazing game, and because there was little to no marketing for it, it didn't sell well, didn't make any money and the company went bankrupt after it. It is very hard to get, since there weren't many copies made, but if you can find it, it is worth waiting for.

Loom, IMO :)

Snatcher. It's adored by console fans who played it back in the day, and Metal Gear Solid fans claim it's one of the best games ever made even if they've never played it (it's produced by the same guy, Hideo Kojima), but among PC gamers and adventure fans it's almost completely unknown. It's a shame, because it's really a very inventive, captivating adventure game (and although it does have some action sequences near the end, they're very easy and extremely rudimentary).

Obsidian is amazing, and very good, but it's more charming than exactly great, and more importantly it belongs to a niche within the niche: the tough Myst-like games.
