The list of all adventure games for psx/ps2
The last days people have been arguing of what a adventure game is (for consoles) So here it is, I hope, a quite good list of adventure games for psx/ps2... Phew took a while to get it finished. If you have any game that is missing here, please write it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- True adventure games for Playstation and Ps2. True=Adventure games without fighting (if the fighting isn't involved as a puzzle, e.g. you don't have to time the hits. A good example is Largo Winch). Games like Ico and Beyond good and evil dosen't count, since you have to time your hits when you fight... Note! This is just my view of what an adventure game is. Playstation 2: -------------- Atlantis III: The New World (Only released for Ps2 in Europe) Broken Sword - The Sleeping Dragon (Only released for Ps2 in Europe/Japan) Echo Night: Beyond (Only released in U.S/Japan) Escape from monkey island Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy (Sept. 2005) Glass Rose (Only Japan/Europe release) Myst III Shadow of Memories (Shadow of Destiny in the U.S.) Syberia 1 & 2 Playstation 1: -------------- Amerzone (Europe/Canada release only) Ark of Time Atlantis : The Lost Tales (Europe only) Aztec Blazing Dragons Broken Sword 1 & 2 China (Europe only) City of lost children Clock Tower Clock Tower 2 Clock Tower: Ghost Head (Japan only) D (U.S and Japan, not confirmed if there is a Europe version) Discworld 1 Discworld 2 Discworld Noir (also known as Discworld 3, Europe release only) Dracula: The Last Sanctuary Dracula: The Resurrection Echo Night Echo Night 2 (Only released in Japan) Egypt 1156 B.C. (Europe only) Egypt II The Heliopolis Prophecy (Europe only) Gold & Glory: The road to el dorado Juggernaut Kowloon's Gate (Japan only) Last Report, The (Evidence for PC) Messenger, The (Louvre: The final curse in Europe) Myst Necronomicon (Europe only) Prisoner of Ice Psychic Detective (More movie than game actually) Riven: The Sequel to Myst Sentient X-Files Zork I: The Great Underground Empire (dont know if this one exist, but acording to gamefaqs, it does...) Thanks everyone who have helped putting this list together! Last edited by Isak; 07-03-2005 at 01:34 PM. |

A text adventure on a console. Now I'm afraid you've lost me.

About that Zork game, as I wrote it's not confirmed that it exists for PSX (I have never seen it) but acording to Gamefaqs it do exists. However, who would want that game for psx .
As far as I know, there wasent a Grim Fandango release for either Psx or Ps2. But there were rumors about a Psx conversion a year after the Pc release. But sadly, I don't think lucasarts ever did something. |

You have Clock Tower 1 and 2 listed under PSX but you didn't put Clock Tower 3 under PS2...

I've never seen a copy of Atlantis III on the PS2. Don't know if it was ever brought to the states.

I own Atlantis III for PS2 but that's the Euorpean version and I'm not sure if it came out in U.S. for PS2. If it did it should be called "Beyond Atlantis II".
The reason I didn't list Clock Tower 3 was, from what I've heard (never played the game), more of an action-survival/horror game... But if it is an Adventure game it should of course be in the list... So does anyone know if it is an adventure game? |

I think you'd better mark as EUROPE ONLY, if it's not released in USA.
And for European title, maybe you missed these. [Gregory Horror Show] (maybe for UK only?) [Jekyll & Hyde] [ICO] |

As I wrote eariler:
"True=Adventure games without fighting (if the fighting isn't involved as a puzzle, e.g. you don't have time the hits. A good example is Largo Winch). Games like Ico and Beyond good and evil dosen't count, since you have to time your hits when you fight... Note! This is just my view of what an adventure game is." So really all these three games are, adventure games with timed actions sequences, which make them action-adventures (at least from my point of view). But thanks, I will mark "Eu" only and so on. |

Couple corrections -
Echo Night: Beyond was also released in Japan Glass Rose was only released in Japan and Europe Discworld Noir was Europe only I'm pretty sure there were some Japan only PSX Clock Towers (Clock Tower: Ghost Head or something like that) you left out D for PSX (American and Japanese release, unsure of European) Syberia I and II were European only there are also a lot of Japan only adventures, I believe (off hand I can only think of Kowloon's Gate for PSX) I can also confirm that Clock Tower 3 is an action adventure hybrid. Unfortunately after a brilliant first couple of hours, the protagonist turns into some sort of magical girl and attacks the enemies with arrows, complete destroying the game's sense of suspence and adding a heavy action element. |

As far as I can tell (from looking at mobygames), the following were not released in the US
Atlantis: Lost Tales Aztec China Egypt 2 Egypt 1156 B.C. Necronomicon Supposedly published in Canada (possibly in French? Anyone know of an English Canadian version or an English NTSC version?): Amerzone |

Cool list
You missed off Sentient for PSX. It was a 3D adventure set aboard a space station heading for the sun, released sometime in 1997, developed by psygnosis' ill-fated Manchester studio, it was pretty well recieved and high profile, got a US release and sold ok in the UK but im not sure about anywhere else. Also the two Everblue games by Capcom on PS2 could be considered adventures. They are point and click games with town based plot bits and then 3D underwater diving bits where you get the items & stuff for the rest of the game. |

Oh thanks mate. This Sentient game sounds promising (gonna buy it tomorrow for $2 . But Everblue 1/2 is more simulator than adventure don't you think?
