Default Blade Runner

I know this is an old game, but I have been reading reviews of it and it looks very good- especially the non-linerity of it. I was thinking of buying this game, but looking at the customer reviews on Amazon I have discovered the possibility that it may not work on Windows XP.

Does anyone have this game? And if so, can you run it on XP? I obviously don't want to buy the game if it isn't going to work on my computer...

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It MAY crash when you enter Runciter's for the first time, as soon as you start a conversation with he guy there [can't remember his name.]

If it does crash there, try changing combatibility.

I´ve just played it in win98, but I have read it should work in Xp aswell..It´s a great game, you shouldn´t miss playing it..The non-linearity is great..

Just curious, when was it first released?

I bought it awhile ago but haven't got a clue what to expect when I get around to playing it. I just loved the book and movie so much.

(I actually glanced at AG review to confirm it - and boy have I forgotten how great art direction this game has... Thanks for reminding me. )

More an interactive movie with a couple action sequences than a game, but it does a GREAT job of capturing the feel of the Blade Runner universe. It works in XP for me also. I just re-watched it recently.

Everyone says it runs fine on XP, however I have a problem. Whenever I get to

Spoiler:
the part when you become a fugitive. I think it's just before Act 4 starts.

my game crashes to the desktop. No error, just BOOM game over. I've looked all over and I seem to be the only one with this problem, so it may just be my copy. (BTW, if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to send them my way).

The film is certainly fantastic, that's what kindled my interest in the game originally. Has anyone read the books, or the book it was based on, Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep?

Unfortunately the game runs pretty lousy on every modern computer because of speed problems, you are bound to encounter bugs and you cannot do the traning routine. Even on a Pentium 266 runs too fast, go figure; it's not XP the problem, it's the cpu.

Loved the movie so I read the book, loved the book more. PKD's demise was a huge loss

I wish there was a walk through with all the different story trees. From what I remember there are four or five different starting scenarios and then your choices in each one change the outcome even more. Because there there are multiple possible outcomes that are not negative you sometimes don't know what you did to change the story line.
Spoiler:
Like when you get your PDA thing hacked into. I never knew what clues to share. I also forgot what "directors cut mode" did. It's been a long time since I've played it.

Yes, utterly brilliant. As is everything else K. Dick has ever written.

Eben though I'd played text adventures on my dad's BBC Master System, Blad Runner was the game that really opened my eyes to the adventure game. A fantastic game.

there was however, one problem with blade runner... it was the only game ever that if you screwed up the story then you couldn't complete the game. there are about eight endings and one path whereas you cannot finish the game. it really didn't help.
