"One of the best adventures ever"? Hmm... IMHO, it's far from it, though it has some potentional. I agree that the sequel might be great if they learn on their mistakes, though I doubt if the game will reach the glory of MI (well, their first game Igor was much closer to MI). And Pendulo still can translate Hollywood Monsters on english. I heard it is rather good..

I had mixed feelings about the original. Too much inventory based puzzles for my taste, and the voice-acting was downright terrible sometimes.
But there was something about it I liked. Especially Chapter 3 and 4 were great.
I hope Pendulo will learn from the mistakes of the first and make an even better game.
I'm definitely gonna look into it when it gets closer.

Ahhaa!

I just head from a quite reliable source that this week on friday Runaway arrives to Finland!

At least to certain special stores.

My hands are itching at the moment...

Soon I can play the game and say my review.

Apparently you posted something that revealed something about a game not everybody's played, and I wanted it inside [spoiler] tags. I'm not gonna go check, though, 'cause it might be something I haven't played.

Runaway was good adventure game, but certainly not great. Some of the things were really frustrating. Plus i had hard time adjusting to interface, i was constantly clicking right button for inventory, they could have at least give us a keyboard shortcut for it.

You should have seen me play Blade Runner. I was drawing my gun left and right and pissing people off, just because I kept trying to get to my inventory.

I've been playing Runaway for a while too now but I can't say it's one of the best I've played. Somehow the game doesn't really 'flow' for me. Can't say why (yet).

Installation during the gameplay sure doesn't help... I hated to wait for minutes for a chapter to install...
It was a fair game... not bad, but not superb too...

I agree that some of the puzzles are not that good, especially the pixel hunts, but the story was far, far better than in any MI. The graphics were also light years in front of MI4. And, at least in the german version, the voice acting is quite good. You heard the man - this game is definitely in the top 20 adventures of all time.

I hope this game gets bogged down in development hell or something so I never have to play the sequel. I've never been so wholly consumed with beating a game so that I never have to play it again.

Hmm, somehow I feel betrayed, no Runaway in Finland today. The release just keeps on going later and later.

I ordered the game in the UK since I *hate* the Dutch parts in the game, like inventory naming and menu names... but it is still not released...

[edit] I played the partly-Dutch game however...

I know what you mean. I also wanted to buy the UK version but I wasn't patient enough. The Dutch menu's and inventory item names don't bother me the most though; it's the dialogue trees that suck! I mean, you select conversation topics in Dutch and the characters start speaking English.

Yep, that too indeed! But I also kept searching for the load/save/quit buttons...

I keep on wondering why they translate such things, I only hear people grumbling about these things (here in Holland at least)...
